James Malloy Obituary

Lt. Col. James T. Malloy (US Army Retired) was born on May 17, 1950 in Washington DC, the third of five children born to William and Renee Malloy. His family moved to Minnesota and James graduated from St. John's University in St. Cloud. James entered the Army and felt honored to serve 23 years on active duty and the National Guard. James worked in the insurance profession before joining the staff at Regis University in 2000. Regis was not only a job to him, but became an extension of his family. James was married to Jude Minahan in 1977 and he is survived by her and their two daughters Kathleen and Renee. He is also survived by his parents and his siblings, George, Kenny, Edward in St. Paul Minnesota and Antoinette in Chicago, and sister-in-law Jackie. In lieu of flowers, James requested that donations be made to Pikes Peak Hospice, 825 E, Pikes Peak Avenue, Suite 600 Colorado Springs CO. 80903-3624. James approached his cancer diagnosis with dignity and grace, and succumbed to the disease on November 8, 2006. Colon cancer is highly curable when found early, and family history is also a factor. Memorial Service is at First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) at 16 East Platte, Colorado Springs on November 14, 2006 at 10:00 a.m., private inurnment will follow. James was a beloved husband and father and was a friend to many, and made their lives better for having known him.

I think James' laugh is the thing I'll miss the most. He always had a smile on his face and something kind to say. Judy, Kate and Renee are in my prayers.

Dear Aunt Judy, Kathleen and Renee,
Joe and I were so glad that we came to Colorado. It was helpful for me to talk with you (especially Judy on 11/13). Uncle Jamesy was a kind and loving man. He picked an amazing wife and (joint) raised two amazing, strong and creative women! I love you very much.

Dear Aunt Judy, Kathleen and Renee,

There is no doubt Uncle James rests within each of you. I find peace knowing he will remain there to give you strength on the days you think your strength is gone. He is one of the kindest men I've ever met and he taught me the kind of person I can only hope to aspire to be like. He taught me this not on one day, not in one year, not in one action, not in one word, but simply by his peaceful and patient way- of listening, advising, joking and comforting.

He will be missed and always be loved and ever present within each of you~
Love,
Anne

I am saddened at the loss of James, and my heart goes out to Jude, the girls, Mavis...
I know what a fine, courageous man he was, and I am a better person for knowing James and his family. His strength and courage is admirable.
Some life lessons I learned from him can be summed up that when there are speed bumps in the road of life, we can have the courage to face those challenges.
I didn't realize that when I first met his wife, Jude, they were just newlyweds. You see, Jude, was my substitute teacher when I was at Hanau American High in 1978. She made a big impression on me, and I can see the family values that James and Jude instilled throughout their life.
I talked to James earlier this year. The grace and dignity he had, encompassed the person that he was....such a nice man.....God Bless!!!
My thoughts and prayers are with you Jude,Kathleen, Renee, and Mavis.
Much love to you all,
Karen
