Peacefully passed, with his loving daughters by his side on November 25, 2021.
He was born June 30, 1943 in Newark, New Jersey to Jack Baird McCarter and Dorothy Dobson. Jim was raised in Hillsboro, Illinois, Heilbronn, Germany and Colorado Springs, Colorado. He attended the Department of Defense school in Heilbronn, Widefield High School, and graduated from Colorado State University with a B.S. in Psychology. He served in the U.S. Army from 1968-1970.
He was a pillar in the Colorado Springs real estate community and held the esteemed honor of Salesman of the Year in 1976, 77, 78, 79 and 1983 for Widefield Homes and Medema Homes. The Campbell Corporation, Inmann Homes (Albuquerque) and Melody Homes also benefited from his exceptional insight and knowledge before he began his own real estate company. In addition to real estate, he held a management position with the U.S. Census Bureau which led to a deep appreciation for the Navajo Nation. He was an avid golfer achieving three holes in one in his career, loved Creedence Clearwater Revival and gardening.
Devoted husband of the late Jaynie (Brannigan) McCarter, loving father to Jennifer Mattioli and Heather Hylton, respected father-in-law to Roman Mattioli and Jason Hylton, cherished grandad to Emma Hylton, Porter Mattioli and Malli Hylton.
A Celebration of Life to be held at Jack Quinn's on Saturday, January 15th from 1:00 - 4:00 PM. The family appreciates all expressions of sympathy.
