I knew Jim in high school. He was ALWAYS such a nice guy to EVERYONE. He was funny, had a smile for you and his impact is clear as I am writing this 48 years after that high school graduation in Kansas City, MO. I am sad to hear this news. My sincere condolences to his wife, daughters and extended family and friends.

I first met Dr. McCartney at Sheppard AFB when we both were in the USAF. He was very professional and kind. Surprisingly, I saw his ad in the newspaper that he was practicing in Colorado Springs.I became his patient once again, as I, too, had moved to Colorado Springs after retirement. He was the most wonderful dentist I have ever had. I am so sorry for your loss.

I am deeply saddened by this news I just learned this afternoon. Jim was one of those few of us that was kind and sincere and approachable to any and all of us. I knew him from baseball and from school and will miss his presence but will remember his kindnesses and the way he could throw a baseball. God-speed, Mac!

Patti, Lindsay and Jamie, I did not get to know Jim very long; we were tennis buddies. His attitude about tennis was just to have fun. I knew he would be perfect for our ATL tennis team and he was. He played hard to win, but really just wanted to have fun; his opponents always enjoyed the match. I loved his sense of humor! He could dish it out and take it with a laugh. He was a good guy. He will be missed.

Jim was one of our Best. Not good at this. So here it is. Class is the word for Jim. I think the reason he really liked me was because I thought his jokes were funny. Can't say enough about him. Very Sorry for your loss. Bill and Carol Riddle, Friends , K.C. Mo. April 20, 2017

Dear Patti, Lindsay and Jamie,
I am so very sorry for the loss of your dear husband and father. Jim lived a life full of energy, love and service. This is a shock and any comfort we can offer seems inadequate. Prayers are with you.

Jim was a great friend and teammate as we grew up near one another in Northeast Kansas City. I can still see him as a 16-year-old on the Northeast High School football team---his heart and talent made him special. His ready smile and dry sense of humor were appreciated by all of us. May God bless his legacy, his family and the many he touched.

Dear Patti, Lindsay and Jamie, What a wonderful man, Jim McCartney was to everyone who met him !! Most recently, Daniel (our youngest) moved to Seattle and had to see a dentist there. That dentist said whoever did your veneers did an excellent job !! Daniel said that was Dr. James McCartney, who does everything with excellence. He was an extraordinarily kind man who did everything with integrity and perfection, including loving his beautiful wife and daughters. He will be greatly missed and we count in an honor to have known him. God comfort your family in this time of incredible loss. With heartfelt sympathy and love, Cathy Timmons

You've already said it in his obituary -- a wonderful husband, son, and father!
Bless you all! With all my love, Patty
