James Pierson Obituary

James Franklin Pierson, 70, of Colorado Springs, died unexpectedly at home on June 28, 2007. He was an educator and administrator in School District 11 from 1965-1992. In 1992 he ran for State Representative. He enjoyed fishing, riding his motorcycle, reading, listening to Blue Grass music and spending time with his family. He was affiliated with and supported Holy Apostles Catholic Church. Mr. Pierson was born February 27, 1937 in Chester, Illinois to Everett and Pearl Pierson. He graduated from Southern Illinois University and earned a Master's Degree from Colorado College. He was married June 20, 1964 in Chicago, Illinois to Gertrude A. Kapanowski, who survives. Mr. Pierson also is survived by his son and two daughters and their families: James and Debbie Pierson (daughters Amy and Jenna, son, Dimitri and one grandson preceded him in death) of Bowie, Maryland; and James (Frank) and Julie Pyle (daughter, Ashley and son, Daniel) of Aurora, Colorado; Kirk and Janet Gerard (daughter, Samantha) of Colorado Springs. He is also survived by three sisters and two brothers and their families: Mary Ann Browder, Patsy Bissell, Judy Fincher, Bob Pierson and Gary Pierson. Visitation, 9:00-11:00 A.M., with services to follow, Thursday, July 5, 2007 at Evergreen Funeral Home, located at 1830 E. Fountain Boulevard, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Burial at Fairview Cemetery located at 1000 S. 26th Street, Colorado Springs, Colorado. Luncheon will follow burial at Holy Apostles Catholic Church located at 4925 N.
