JAMES POOLE Obituary

James Ford Poole, 72, passed away at home on October 17, 2008 after a valiant and prolonged struggle with cancer. He was an amazing father, husband, son, and friend to the community. Jim was born on April 12, 1936, to Sarah and Oliver Poole of Laurens, South Carolina. Jim received a degree in Mathematics from Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina. Under the auspice of the National Science Foundation, Jim also did graduate work in Mathematics at the University of Pennsylvania. Jim was a self-employed investment advisor for forty one years. He was extremely active in local and state communities. He held leadership positions in many organizations including State Treasurer for the Colorado Democratic Party. He was also a talented singer who performed in multiple venues for a variety of audiences. Jim was preceded in death by his brother Robert, mother Sara, and father Oliver. He is survived by his wife Martha (Spann) Poole, daughters Stephanie Poole-Byrd (Bradley), and Heather Poole, son Adam Poole, grandchildren Devin and Tyler (Clark) , Kendell and Carter (Byrd), D'Atra an D'Yonni (Poole), sister Ollie Mae Dennis, and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and family members. A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 26, 2008 at 2:30 p.m. at the Sangre de Cristo Arts and Conference Center, 210 Santa Fe Avenue, in Pueblo, Colorado.
