James ROBERTSON Obituary

ROBERTSON, James Hutton
The remarkable, inspiring and passionate story of James Hutton Robertson came to a peaceful end on Monday, April 23, 2012.
With his passing, the North, the West, the South and the East lost a great husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and leader. Jim led an extraordinary seventy-three year life that touched countless people in endless ways. Born in Scotland in 1938, he seized adventure and opportunity heading to the north of Canada to learn the fur trade with the Hudson's Bay Company in the late 1950's.
On settling in Inuvik, he immersed himself in a myriad of entrepreneurial ventures and northern politics for more than forty years. Business, family and personal passions took him around the globe with his deepest roots in Inuvik, Yellowknife, Edmonton, Kelowna, Palm Springs and, perhaps his favorite place of all, his 'cabin' at Consolation Lake.
His list of endeavours and accomplishments was vast - those who knew him will easily assemble their own list of memories to frame a lasting and meaningful recollection of his life. Jim was innovative, yet practical. He was demanding, yet fair. He led people with a humble, down to earth nature and throughout his life he boldly followed his instincts in the same way. He made those around him feel special, appreciated and respected.
Jim is survived by his wife Glory, sons Bruce and Ian, sister Joan, brother Norman, first wife Dorothy, grandchildren, and close cousins, the Ford family. A Celebration of Life was held for Jim with family and friends on Saturday, April 28th in Calgary.

Hopefully the family reads this. But i am Paul Reimers granddaughter. He and James got to be friends while he was work for the HBC near Little Red River when he was 19. I am currently working on Grandpa Paul's autobiography and was hoping to send James a copy and found his obit. If the family would like to get ahold of me please email me at [email protected]
