James Rogers Obituary

James Arthur Rogers, beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend to many, passed away Saturday evening, November 24, 2012, in Denver, Colorado. A long-time resident of Colorado Springs, Jim had been battling health issues in recent years. Born June 11, 1925 in Bonner Springs, Kansas, he was adopted at an early age by William and May Rogers of Clinton, Missouri. Jim graduated from high school in Clinton and also earned his Eagle Scout badge. After high school graduation, he enlisted in the Marines and served in the Marshall Islands during WWII. He was a graduate of Central College in Fayetteville, Missouri. He married Dixie Juanita Campbell on August 21, 1947. They had three children, daughters Linda and Peggy, and son Timothy. He was preceded in death by Dixie in 1980. Jim ultimately pursued a career in insurance, working for Farmers Insurance Group for 35 years. His career with Farmers eventually brought him to Colorado Springs, as a district manager overseeing agent activity in Colorado and Wyoming. Following his retirement, he began a journey that took him all over the United States as well as Europe and South America. Jim had a zest for life that led him to pursue numerous interests, including sailing and earning his pilot's license. Jim was also a sports enthusiast and a devout fan and supporter of the Denver Broncos, Nuggets and Colorado Rockies, as well as Colorado College hockey. Jim is survived by daughter Linda Ayres of Littleton, Colorado, husband Jim, grandsons Brian Ayres and Jeff Ayres of Denver; daughter Peggy Rothmeier of Southlake, Texas, husband Craig, granddaughter Kristin Frie and husband Dan of Frisco, TX, great grandchildren Austin and Addison, and grandson Nick Rothmeier of Littleton, Colorado; son Timothy Rogers of Tuscumbia, Alabama, wife Terri, grandsons Brian and Matt and wife Jessica Rogers, and great grandchildren Annabelle, Tucker, and Lillian, all of Akron, Ohio. Jim was a member of the Broadmoor Community Church, where he will be laid to rest. Memorial services are pending. The family asks that donations be made in Jim's name to the Semper Fi Fund, 825 College Blvd, Suite 102, PMB 609, Oceanside, CA 92057.

Sorry for the loss of your Dad. We grew up together as I lived across the street from Aunt May whose house was on the corner of our block. We were both pilots together and enjoyed the sport. I am sorry for not being able to see hime more often in the last years.

Always having fun!

Jim & I were friends & we used to talk & tell jokes when he went to the "Y." We went to Scottsdale & visited some friends of mine for a while. They had a party for us & Jim was the bartender & soon was friends with everyone there! My thoughts & prayers are with you.
Sincerely,
Dick Williams

To The Jim Rogers Family,
We are so sorry to hear about the loss of my cousin-in-law. Dixie and Jim always allowed me to tag along with them and enjoy their companionship. I spent many a summer at their home (both at college and later)visiting and doing things with them. They are wonderful memories of by-gone days. He will be sadly missed in all our lives. May he rest in peace in heaven with Dixie, Gene, and his parents. Please accept our condolences on the loss of your loved one!

Jim was a great friend and traveling companion to my mother Jan. I appreciate the good times that he shared with my mother and the times he was there to help her when none of us kids were available. I know she misses him very much and especially misses his daily phone calls. She was very blessed to have known him and our family is very grateful that he was a part of her life.

Jim, I am proud and appreciative of the opportunity I had to share my life as a member of the Rogers family. You always made life special for everyone; we will miss you.

My dad was so much fun. Once he showed up with this hot pink feather boa he just thought I had to have. I still have it.
