James Sink Obituary

James Richard Sink, age 75, passed away on December 28, 2010 in Colorado Springs at Pikes Peak Hospice Care. He was an amazing, dedicated husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. James was born on October 22, 1935 to William and Cora Opal Sink in Benton, Illnois. Freda DeBois is his only surviving sibling and she resides in Bettendork, Iowa. James enlisted in the Air Force in 1954 and a graduate from the University of Nebraska. He was a retired Air Force Colonel and served our country with dignity and pride for 26 years as his last assignment in 1978 was as NORAD/ADCOM Command Director and retired in 1981. He enjoyed many years of golfing and fishing with his friends, sharing time with his family and also loved spending time at home in his yard. James will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. His sense of humor, strength and generosity along with his strong moral values is what made James such a special person. James is survived by his wife of 51 years of marriage, Judith Sink, and his three daughters, Terre Parsons, Rhonda Sageser and Deborah Fluhr as well as eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Cremation is planned at his request. A memorial service will be held at Woodmen Valley Chapel on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at 9:00am in the Old Stone Chapel. Donations can be made in his name to the place that offered him and others in their last days with such wonderful care. This is Pikes Peak Hospice Care Foundation. Jim and Judy were good friends for a number of years before we moved to Chicago, and we made an effort to see them whenever we could when we traveled back to Colorado. We enjoyed spending time with them and knew their family as well. All were extremely nice and a lot of fun. Jim's sense of humor was the unique. He was an fun person to be around, and in their relationship, he and Judy kind of played off of each other, keeping everyone entertained. It has been a couple of years since we last saw them and we regret that it was so long ago. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him, especially his wife and family, and we would like to send our condolences to them. Thanks too Jim for your service to our Country. Love to all. Barb and Bill
