James Walser Obituary

Jim was born in Phoenix, AZ to Thelma Walser (Owens) and Henry Walser. He served nearly 4 years in the Swiss-Austrian mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He traveled to and from his mission on the Queen Mary, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Many of his ancestors were from the area and Jim was always grateful to be able to serve there. He especially enjoyed skiing in the Alps with the people he was teaching about the gospel of Jesus Christ. He learned to speak German fluently and continued to speak it at every opportunity throughout his life. He read and studied from his German scriptures right up until his death. The first Sunday after his mission, Jim's cousin introduced him to Regina N Hansom and they were married less than a year later on march 5, 1953 for time and eternity in the Mesa, AZ temple. They had 5 children together - Mark (Mary), Michael (Bonnie), Curtis (Darcy), Tamra Goolsby, and Eric (Charlotte). They have 27 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. Jim served for 4 years in the US Army as an artillery officer and received a medal for bravery after saving the life of a fellow soldier. He graduated from ASU with a degree in Accounting and spent most of his life working with computers as an accountant. Jim loved to spend time with his family. He was a pilot and gave his family many memorable adventures in his small airplane. He also enjoyed deep sea fishing, reading, and watching the Broncos. Jim will be truly missed by many. Jim is preceded in death by his mother, father, step-father Harold Pattee, and his brothers Dean and Dale. Grave side service with military honors will be held on November 6, 2009, 2:30 PM at the Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado.
