James Young Obituary

James "Jim" E
Young
January 2, 1947
June 17, 2022

A celebration of Jim's life will be held at 1:00 pm on June 29, 2022, at the Cheyenne Mountain Resort. Please RSVP at https://JimYoungMemorial.eventbrite.com

Jim's life started on a family farm in Banner Springs, Tennessee, where the love for and values of land, family, faith, and community were weaved through the fabric of his life. He was born January 2, 1947 to Mary and Benjamin Young.

James (Jim) Edward Young, passed away Friday, June 17, 2022. He is survived by his wife, Kelly Young; children, Stephanie Young Lombardo (Matthew) and Joshua Young; granddaughter Livia Lombardo; and siblings, Jean Bryan (Harry), Homer Young, Julia Martin (Jim), Ron Young and sister-in-law, Joyce Ellis, and many nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his siblings Bob Young, Clyde Young, Edna Young Pridemore (Doug), and Kenneth Ellis.

Jim loved his time at the University of Tennessee, graduating with a B.S. in Agriculture, and was a life-long Vol's fan. Actually, he was a life-long sports fan including the Denver Broncos, Denver Nuggets, Colorado Rockies, and golf. Jim's military service brought him to Fort Carson, and he was proud to be a military veteran.

Jim's heart was community, family, fun, generosity, and love for people. Everyone Jim touched has at least one story to tell, and there are plenty to tell about him. Jim's life lessons may have started on the farm, but he learned even more selling books door to door in college. He was one of the youngest people to hold a Real Estate Brokers license in Colorado and was a visionary sales and business person. He created his own company, Land Properties, and built a sales team with offices throughout Southern and Western Colorado. His people were always his highest priority, and he set a high standard of integrity in the mountain land sales and development sector. Jim's career is a testament to his unbelievable sales ability, tenacity, and vision, and ultimately to his commitment to and care for others.

Jim cherished family. His world revolved around Kelly, Josh and Stephanie and his dedication to and love for them. He poured himself into mountain adventures with Josh, flowers with Stephanie, vacations, celebrations, and just hanging out (for "talks with Dad"). Jim loved living life with Kelly, whether it was travel, games, time with friends, or walks together. But, his love for family didn't end there! He offered an all expense paid round trip to Colorado for all his nieces and nephews as a high school graduation present. And was eager to host family reunions to provide a taste of "ranch life".
After he retired, Jim's passions included his well-loved Rancho San Carlos, being a Religious Science Practitioner, being a Big Brother and mentor to so many people, golf, and most importantly his weekly Papaw days with Livia and being a Dad and Husband!

Jim will forever be remembered fondly and with gratitude for his vision, belief in others and his willingness to share the abundance of his success. He recognized and respected those that worked under him and it was one of our lives' deepest privileges to have known him. He is eternally loved by the Trinidad and southern Colorado mountain sales group.

My heart is with Kelly and all of you during this time of grieving. I did not know Jim personally, but I feel like I got to know the kind person that he is through my newer friendship with Kelly. God Bless all of you.....

Kelly, Stephanie, Joshua & Family,

It is an honor and a privilege to have known Jim both personally and professionally. I worked for and with Jim in successfully marketing several of his real estate developments. Jim was always very professional and fair in all of his dealings with his agents, employees and customers alike.

Jim and I attended SEC schools. I was an Auburn University "War Eagle" and Jim a University of Tennessee "Volunteers". What fun we had together watching some of those rivalry games on TV.

We attended and tailgated at the Broncos games on occasion with our families. I specifically remember the Broncos-Packers game on Monday night Oct. 15,1984. The weather forecast was for maybe an inch or two of snow but ultimately, we got two-three feet. We left Mile High Stadium in Jim's jeep at about 10:30 PM and we got stuck in the snow at 4:00 AM at Woodmen and I -25. We (Bill, Aleta, Jim and Jim's friend Al?) managed to hike about 3/4 of a mile through snow drifts to Jim's House arriving at about 5:00 AM. What an experience!!

Dads and spouses are very special people in everyone's lives. Jim was no exception considering how much he adored Kelly and how well he raised his family.

No words can truly describe our and your loss, but fond memories of Jim will live in our hearts forever.

With our love and sympathy,

Bill Medeiros & Aleta Campbell
