Jane Brady Obituary

Life long Colorado resident, Jane Brady died, peacefully in her Colorado Springs home on September 6, 2005. Mrs. Brady was born Dorothy Jane Kimzey on the Pine Grove Ranch in Eastonville, CO November 25, 1914. She was on of three daughters and a son born to Fred and Maude Kimzey. She grew up in Colorado Springs where her father Fred and uncle Homer operated the Kimzey Brother's Grocery Store on West Fontanero Street. Mrs. Brady attended Steele Elementary, Colorado Springs High School and graduated form Colorado College in 1935. She enthusiastically served on student organizations and volunteered for various functions, a characteristic she carried through her lifetime. Mrs. Brady me E. James Brady in high school where they became lifelong sweethearts. They attended Colorado College together and were married in 1935 in Shove Chapel. She loyally supported him through his career as a prominent Colorado psychiatrist and medical director for the Emory John Brady Hospital. Mrs. Brady was a character member of the Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center, Where she served for many years as a docent, and co-founded the center's Museum shop. She was an active member of the Broadmoor Garden Club, where she is best remembered for the Ikebana arrangements she contributed to many charitable functions. She served on the Board of trustees for Colorado College and the Colorado Springs Junior League. An avid golfer for much of her life, Mrs. Brady limited her game to nine holes at age 80, and within a year won the nine hole tournament at the Kissing Camels Gold Club. Mrs Brady is survived by three sons, Dennis, Phillip and James; four grandchildren, Ann Johnston, Robert Brady, Mark Brady and Paige Brady. A Memorial service will be held on September 17, 2005 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, 601 N. Tejon St. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her name to the Colorado Fine Arts Center or the Brady Fund For Mental Health of Colorado University Foundation, 4200 E. 9th Ave. Campus Box C-249-32, Denver, 80262
