Jane Forsberg Weeks, 64, died in her home in Fountain, Colorado, on July 24, 2018.
Jane was born on August 14, 1953, in Sidney, New York. She attended the College at Brockport, State University of New York, where she studied English and Sociology. Shortly after the death of her father, Oscar Forsberg, she moved with her mother, the late Susan Forsberg, to Colorado Springs.
Jane worked as a writer and editor for various news agencies, including the Black Forest News, the Colorado Springs Sun, and the Fountain Valley News. Additionally, she was proud of her work with children with emotional disabilities, as well as adults with significant support needs. Throughout her life, she contributed to the welfare of animals through adoption, donation, and countless acts of kindness.
Jane and Bill met in 1982 and were married later that year. After the births of their daughters, Jane spent the following years lovingly raising their daughters and caring for many dogs.
She is survived by her husband, Bill Weeks, of Fountain, Colorado; her daughters, Kaitlin Weeks Hays of Englewood, Colorado; and Chelsea A. DeFelice of Littleton, Colorado; and her beloved granddaughter Drew Hays and grandson Evan DeFelice.
She is also survived by her sister Katherine A. Opal (husband Steven) of Rhode Island; and several other relatives and close friends.
Jane will be remembered for her quick wit, unconditional love of animals, and unyielding generosity and kindness to all.
Memorial contributions may be made to the National Mill Dog Rescue, Best Friends Animal Society, The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee, or a charity of the giver's choice.
