Janet Mary Kovac, daughter of the late Frank and Hilda Westnutt, was born April 1, 1935 in Gillingham, England. While going into London with her girlfriends to dance, she met the love of her life, an American Airman. They were married on May 25th, 1954 at St. Michael's Church in Chatham, England. They were married 61 years until Joe's passing on January 5 , 2015. She was a military spouse for 24 years and the mother to 2 children. During her military travels her family lived in Broadstairs, England, Ft. Worth, TX, San Angelo, TX, Biloxi, MS, Adana, Turkey, North Syracuse, NY, Newburgh, NY and Colorado Springs, CO where she lived for 44 years. She worked at The Denver Dry Good Store and for Dr. Joseph Hanlin until her retirement in 1999. She held many positions with the International Lions Club, Trans Atlantic British Wives Club & Officer's Wives Club. She traveled to England numerous times to visit family and go to the beach. She loved gardening, flowers, arts and crafts, genealogy, and her Siamese cats. She is survived by her children and their spouses: Karen & Jean Fernand of Colorado Springs, CO, Neil & Charity Kovac of Colorado Springs, CO. Also surviving Janet are her Grandchildren : David & Bryan Fernand, Ian & Austin Kovac; and her Great-Grandchildren: Logan & Wyatt Fernand and Allie & Emma Parnell. Janet is survived by her beloved brother, John Westnutt and his wife, Patricia Westnutt; as well as numerous cousins in England. Funeral services are pending at the Pikes Peak National Cemetery, where Janet & Joe will have grave side service.

To the family of Janet,I am so sorry for your loss. I knew Janet from coming to the commissary first with Joe then on her own after his passing. I was a constant visitor to her care home until Covid. May you find comfort in your memories of you mother. May she rest in eternal peace in the arms of her maker and her husband Joe.

So sorry to hear of Janet´s passing. She was my good neighbor for many years. She was friendly to all on the street and i so enjoyed talking to her. I also remember my years in the Lion´s Club with her and Joe. RIP Janet.

I am so sorry to hear of Janet´s passing, l didn´t know her long compared to some at the British club but we connected due to my family coming from Portsmouth and Gosport and my Dad being in the Navy. I will miss her pithy wit.

As a young teenager it was wonderful to go to a home that was as loving as my home. Karen and Neil shared so many of the shared experiences with our families being in the Air Force. I always felt at home in your home and your Mother was always so gracious, kind, and upbeat! You were blessed to have such a sweet Mother.
