A beloved daughter, sister, wife, aunt, and friend, Janet Elsie Margiotta-Hackett passed away unexpectedly on November 1st, 2021. Born in the Bronx, New York on January 19, 1960 to Bennett and Smyrna Margiotta. Janet grew up in Colorado Springs, attended Coronado High School, and graduated from Colorado State University.

Janet was a loving and compassionate person putting the needs of others before her own. She lit up every room she entered, connected with every single person, and made everyone feel special. While she rarely spent money on herself, Janet loved to shower her entire family and friends with hand picked gifts. She pursued a career working with children, first with Big Brothers / Big Sisters, then Head Start, and finishing her career as a Special Education teacher. At the same time thoughout her career, she worked with kids in after School programs and almost every community center in Colorado Springs. She was always encouraging and giving opportunitues to those less fortunate. She had a beautiful smile, a witty sense of humor, and never complained about any circumstance. Janet was always up for an adventure, loved the outdoors, and her beautiful selfless light shined through with her last words "Thank you, Thank you". Her presence will be deeply missed by all. You are now free to dance again.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband, David Hackett, siblings Kitty Margiotta, Frank Margiotta, Theresa Dolotta, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Service will be in June and an announcement will be made at a later date.
