Janet Walters Obituary
Janet's first teaching job was with the Amish community in Northeast Ohio. In 1973 Janet and Chris married and moved to Colorado Springs where Chris was a member of the USAF Academy Band. Janet's first teaching jobs were with the Sunshine Learning Centers and substituting for District 11. She became a full time teacher with District 11 and taught for 25 years at Fremont Elementary School. She so loved teaching and working with fellow teachers and staff. What a wonderful role model she has been for the community and the hundreds of 5th graders she taught.
After retiring Janet enjoyed walking with friends, reading, spending time with her "babies", and being an active member of Colorado Springs Assistance League. She loved the "Can You Hear Me Program" , "Operation School Bell",and working at the Bargain Box.
As a mother and grandmother she led her life by example, demonstrated by her Christian values. A friend recently wrote, "When I think of you Janet, I see your radiant, beautiful personality."
Janet is survived by her husband Chris, daughter Sarah, son Aaron, sister Susan Naylor, brother Russell Adams, grandchildren Madelyn, Will, Montana, Isabelle, Amos, and Silas.
A memorial service will be held Fri. Dec. 16 at 2:00 PM at Sunrise Church, 2655 Briargate Blvd. Colorado Springs, CO 80920. In lieu of flowers, please make any donations in Janet's name to the Assistance League of Colorado Springs.

Chris, Sarah, Aaron and family,
Janet was a dear co-grandmother who will be greatly missed. She was a very special woman, a wonderful grandmother who dearly loved our grandchildren, Madelyn, Will and Isabelle. It was an honor to have been a part of such a beautiful person's life. May you find comfort in knowing someday we will see her again.
