Janet Catherine (Morse) Watkins, 96, peacefully passed into her eternal heavenly home on January 8, 2023. She was born in Detroit, Michigan on August 4, 1926. On August 9, 1947, she married Eugene B. Watkins. She graduated from Taylor University in 1947 and taught two years in an elementary school in Coopersville, MI. They eventually settled in Bay City, Michigan in the house Gene built. Janet loved teaching Sunday school and treasured each child. She often mentioned that she hoped she would see them in heaven. Janet was very involved in the Gideons Auxiliary and always had New Testaments in her purse ready to give to someone. In 1992, Gene and Janet moved to Woodland Park, Colorado. She loved living with a beautiful view of Pikes Peak. She traveled extensively and daily looked forward to tea time. She spent the last few days of her life surrounded by family, listening to hymns, and having Psalms read to her. Even her final days brought glory to God and touched the lives of family and nurses on the 5th floor at St. Francis. She is preceded in death by her parents and two brothers (her younger brother died 6 days before her), her husband (2001), and her eldest child, Ronald Watkins (2021). She is survived by her children: Rick (Anne), Randy (Dina), and Nancy Sutton; her grandchildren: Timothy, Benjamin (Chrystal), Andrew (Marti), Kristen (Chris), Kara, Kelsey (Kyle), Niko, Angela, David and Joy; and great-grandchildren: Aiden, Ryan, Sullivan, Emeri, Lucy, and Eleanor. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Janet's name to the Gideons.org. Celebration service at Swan Law on January 20 at 12:30.

She, like all of her children, was nothing but honorable and a perfect example of how we should be.

Very sorry to hear the news today but Janet lived out the truth that she loved so much in her heart. Clearly one of the sweetest people I have ever known!

We spent many a summer visiting the Watkins. My mom and Janet were roommates at Taylor University. After marriage and three boys, we were pleased to welcome Nancy by sending a box of baby things all in pink! Now that Janet has moved on I'm sure all the friends have reunited and given their praise to our wonderful God. Wendy Parsons Petrakos

I remember many visits with Janet (and family) and enjoyed her hospitality, sweet nature and smile. She face to face with her Lord and much missed here. We will meet again! PTL.

What a joy it is to see a life well spent and knowing this separation is for a short time. Janet's love for the Lord was always evident when we talked with her. She has left many great memories and will be missed. We know her heart was for her family to follow and trust the Lord as she did. She knew the alternative of not having Him in their lives would mean she would never see them again, being separated from them for ALL eternity and they would live in torment. She knew Heaven is real and that hell is also. Our condolences go out to the family. Separation is never easy. Know she is happy and well now in the presences of her Lord and Savior. May the Lord give you His peace that passes all understanding at this time. In His Love, Don and Judy Laib
