Janice Faye Karlowski was born in Colorado Springs on October 21, 1951 to Chester L. Woolsey and Ella E. Woolsey. She grew up on the Westside and graduated from Palmer H.S. in 1969. Jan married and as a military wife lived in Hinesville, GA and Tacoma WA. Moving back to Colorado Springs, she gave birth to John L. White. After a divorce, Jan worked for AT&T as an operator. At Work, she met James Karlowski and found her life partner. After ten years together, Jan and Jim married on May 31, 1995 and shared many interests and adventures (such as Bob Dylan concerts, walks at Fountain Creek Nature Center, gardening, old movies, and summer trips to a remote cabin Gunnison). Jan worked for Fleet Financial and then worked at Schriever AFB as an operator. She was very proud to connect overseas solders with their families. After retiring, she enjoyed luncheons with the Schriever Operators Bunch.

For many years, one night a week, Jan and Jim would enjoy a dinner prepared by long-time friends Ernie and Jennifer Whitford. The couples would then work on a puzzle while Jim would DJ the background music.

Janice was a life-long Christian and faced with courage and grace the diagnosis of stage four cancer. With excellent medical care, Jan was surprised to find her life journey continue for another year and eight months. (She died peacefully in her sleep). She is survived by her husband, James Karlowski; her son, John L. White: daughter-in-law, Megan and granddaughter, Violet Faye White. Jan is also survived by sister, Cheryl Lebel (Stephen); brother, Ronald Woolsey and her cousins and friends.
