I think of you often even though I never knew you. I know the loss of a family member never leaves the pain will always remain, but I know your family can remember the good times and it is that love and remeberance that makes everyone stronger. I know you are a guardian angel to many still serving and protecting, just from a place of peace and calm where nobody is there to harm anyone. I very much love the song played at your service by U2 "Where The Streets Have No Name" God Bless your family here, you are in our hearts

I will strive to live up to your saying "I want my life to matter, I want my life to count".

Hi Honey,
I am notified when kind people and family leave messages for you on this wonderful website. Just as the other 2 websites that are created for you and to you, this one allows people to express their love, their feelings and their respect for you. I check those other 2 sites every day and this one as well when a new message is left.
I miss you Jared. Love you and miss you more than mere words could ever describe. I did not know that such deep pain could exist in this world as that which I work through every day and every night. Earlier I had written that I do not know how many parents have learned, from their grown children, life-changing examples of "how to live a truly, worthy life". You my dear, precious son, my Jared, you have taught me many. My goals for the remainder of my earthly life is to First, to the extent I can ... try to emulate the example you have set. Live a life of truth, passion, love, courage and compassion. The second is to do all I can to promote your memory and legacy. Both before and since that horrible, horrible day in February 2006, you have greatly touched and positively influenced thousands of lives. You will continue to as the years go on.
Until I am in Heaven with you and are able to wrap my arms around you then ... please know you are in my thought every day and in my heart forever.
Love you son.
Love you Jared,
Dad

My Dear Jared, My precious son,
On Wednesday, Oct 4th and on Friday Oct 6th you were honored in Colorado Springs. On Wednesday, at the 100 Club Dinner, your dear Natalie spoke so eloquently about you, your life, and your core beliefs. She and you received a standing ovation after her words. On Friday at the Medal of Valor Luncheon she sang the National Anthem at the beginning of the Ceremony. People were amazed at her beautiful voice and her courage. After she received, for you, both the Medal of Valor for Bravery in the face of immenent danger and the Police Cross because you gave your life in pursuit of safety for others ... there was a long, long standing ovation after she accepted each Medal. There were not many dry eyes among the hundred of people in attendance.
My Dear Jared ... life is so hard ... so very, very , hard without you here. If it were not for your brother Jeff and your sister Jonika and Marilyn ... I would not be able to go on. Because of them, I must and I will. The bottom line though, is that every day I spend on earth, henceforth, brings me that much closer to the day that I will join you in Heaven before the very Presence of Almighty God.
I love you Son, I love you Jared.

My Dear son, my Dear Jared,

I have spent the last 3 months trying to find a way to incorporate this trajedy into my life and it seems impossible. As I look around I see myself doing little things or trying to help someone now and in the back of my mind I am thinking of you. Helping others is the legacy you left behind and it is being continued. You and Natalie are never far from our thoughts and we think of you both daily.
May 24, 2006
J-Rod...
It has now been three months since you left us. We are all still trying to figure out how to live without you. Everyday I think that it will get easier, but there are still so many thoughts and memories of you. Losing you has affected everyone in ways that you could never imagine. I hope and pray that time will lessen the pain, so that thoughts of you will turn into fond remembrances of your amazing life instead of painful reminders that you are gone. We miss you.

Natalie, you are the most amazing person, I SO admire your strength, courage, and heart. It is no secret why you and Jared were such a perfect match. I love you dearly, and I am here for whatever you need... ALWAYS.
J-Rod, For more than the last 10 years you and I have always cracked jokes at each other… so, thank you for always putting me in my place (in the kitchen fixing you a "samich".) You have left behind a legacy that makes me feel so incredibly privileged to have been a small part of your life. Your laugh and your smile, will be forever in our hearts….

It still hurts... And I'm afraid it's going to hurt for a long time to come. How are we supposed to get through all this lingering pain and extreme sadness and horrible anger? I, for one, am going to try to be kinder and more forgiving of my fellow man, because I think that's what Detective Jensen would want me to do. How else can I honor this man who gave his life to protect mine? My deepest sympathies to his wife, parents, brother, and those who worked with him. My heart breaks for you all. Please know that sadness shared is sadness lightened, and there are so many of us who share your loss. God bless and comfort you in this tragic time.

Thank you to everyone who has kept Jared, his wife Natalie, and the rest of our family in their thoughts and prayers. Also for the way his legacy was and continues to be honored. Jared, I miss and love you more than words could ever truely explain. Even though you were my little brother, it was I who looked up to you. Rest assured you will be forever remembered a hero not just for the way you died, but more importantly for the way you lived. Bro, I'll keep my promise. We have the streets now and until we are truely together again know you were a great cop, an unbleivable brother, and made an impact greater than you could ever imagine.

This is Barbara G's mother. I cannot express the depth of sorrow I feel for you and your family. Since I watched the grandchildren while B & R attended Jared's funeral, I was unable to attend. Tom, Marilyn, and family of Jared,
Though it has been a few days now, Barb and I know you continue to suffer as you did from the first moment you heard of Jared's death. We cannot know what you are going through--we can only surmise. Only someone who has lost a son, daughter, husband, or wife in the prime of life can truly know the anguish. And, though, during my 30-year military career, I experienced the loss of "sons" and "daughters" under my command, and found myself in a situation of informing and consoling grieving mothers, fathers, wives, and husbands, the depth of your grief remains a 2nd-hand experience, as I hope it always will. Tom, to you as a brother Knight and friend who has undergone so many tragedies as to be incomprehensilble, and Marilyn, to you as a friend who has experienced incredible physical trial over the past year, Barb and I offer our deepest and sincerest condolences. We stand by you in the only way we can--by thought, word, prayer and support and a shoulder when you need it. May God be strong in your lives during this time of need and show you the way to work through the adjustments you must make. We love you, our friends.

I can not understand the grief that the family of Jared Jensen is feeling, especialy his wife. I drove by the memorial site near where officer Jensed died. I was overwhelmed by emotion. About 12 years ago in California I was out driving at night and waved at a local sheriff deputy as he drove by, about 45 minutes later I saw the officers car in a parking lot exactly where I had waved at him earlier. The officer had just been killed in the same way Officer Jensen died. I never was the same after that, I could never feel safe again, I had a horrible fear inside of me. I was able to attend that officers memorial 12 years ago in California and it was something I will never forget, as I am sure Officer Jensens Memorial will be. I am the wife of a firefighter who wears alot of "hats" and is sometimes in some situations I wish he was not in. I have two small children and every day I wonder if their daddy will come back home when he walks out the door. I have been to three funerals since November 2005, one of which was for one of our Fountain Police officers. Officer Jensens will be the fourth memorial service since November 2005 I have been to. I never knew officer Jensen, yet in the last days since his death I can not sleep and cry the entire day. I hope some day to meet officer Jensens wife, I do not know what I would say to her that would be of any help, but I do hope to meet her and offer her my heartfelt deep sympathy and let her know how sorry I am for what happened to officer Jensen. I can not even begin to understand the pain officer Jensens wife is going through, and I feel guilty for sitting here crying and shaking because I never knew the man she loved. To all of officer Jensens family, friends and other officers who were also a part of his family I offer you my sympathy. Officer Jensen will forever live in my heart and I will always be grateful for everything he did for his community and his family.
