Jason Summerfield Obituary

Jason Summerfield of Monument, and more recently Colorado Springs, died Sunday evening while doing what he loved best, riding his motorcycle. He was 23. Jason graduated from LPHS in 2006, and from UCCS in 2010 with a degree in Computer Engineering. He was employed at Lockheed Martin IS&GS Defense, where he worked with his Dad and best friend, John Summerfield. Jason was a member of the Monument Police Explorer Program, serving the Tri-Lakes community for nine years. He started as a Cadet and rose to the rank of Advisor. Jason was also a founding member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Mu Alpha Chapter, at UCCS. Jason had planned to return to UCCS in the Fall to pursue his Master's Degree in Engineering. Jason enjoyed living life to the fullest, with his friends and family surrounding him. Whether camping with friends, four wheeling, paintball or setting off "self-engineered" reworks; Jason was always ready with a quick smile and perhaps a practical joke or two. His gregarious, charming and generous nature won him many friends of all ages. He enjoyed challenges of all kinds and died as he lived, pushing the limits. He is survived by his parents John & Paige Summerfield of Monument, CO; Sister, Samantha Summerfield, Grandparents, Ervin & Darlene Summerfield and Elwood & Arta Berger. Uncles, Mark Summerfield, David Berger and Rod Berger and Aunt, Marily Berger, and his rescue dog Brisa. A Celebration of Jason's Life will be held on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at the Palmer Lake Centennial Park, 11am - 2pm. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Jason Summerfield Memorial fund at People's National Bank, 1899 Woodmoor Dr., Monument, Colorado 80132.

Its two years now since you passed away. I miss you every day and I cant begin to tell you how much. I'm afraid I will never meet a friend like you again. I hang out with Jill and Drew a lot still. I wish we could all hang out together sometimes but I know you're with us. I didn't have a lot of time to meet your parents but I just want them to know that they raised an amazing son who will never ever be forgotten.
I love you Jason.

Dear John and Paige, I am so sorry that you lost Jason. We lost our son in an accident two years ago. We have a memorial website for him and I think putting on a message every month around the day he died helps his dad to cope. When you get stronger please put a few notes telling us about Jason online. I'd like to hear more about him. He sounds like he was an incredible person.

I worked with Jason for about 2 years on the C2BMC program at Lockheed Martin. Jason was the nicest person to work with. He was always positive and someone who smiled a lot. We miss him. My condolences for his parents and family. This is such a tragic loss.
