Jean Eck Obituary

Surrounded by her family, Jean Roberta Eck passed away at the age of 70, on July 28, 2014, in Colorado Springs, CO. Despite being diagnosed with cancer five years ago, she showed exceptional strength, bravery and determination. She was a hero to her family.

Originally from Miami, FL, she moved to Colorado Springs in 1980, with her two children and then husband, Roger Rankin. Jean took great pride in being a homemaker and caring for her family.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ray, with whom she spent the past 21 years of her life. They were married on December 19, 2001, on the island of Fiji. Jean and Ray took pleasure in traveling the world and have visited over 50 countries.

Affectionately, Jean is remembered by her son Kenneth Rankin of Colorado Springs; daughter Jeannie (Rick) Coolidge of Florida; step children Tressa Eck, Megan (Drew) Wise, and Matt Eck; grandchildren Melissa, Allison, and Ryan Coolidge, Alexis Wise; sister Dot Chiles of Portland; and cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents John and Dorothy Stoky and her sister Sandra Cookerly.

Jean's greatest joy was being with her family and friends and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. It is Jean's kindhearted and generous spirit that will be dearly missed by those who knew her.

The graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2014 at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 Hancock Expressway, Colorado Springs, CO, 80903.
