Jean Freeman Obituary

Jean Howard Freeman was born on October 24, 1914, in Brodhead, WI, to Delton Clement Howard and Florence (Woodling) Howard. She died on September 17, 2009, in Milton, WA. Mrs. Freeman is survived by a son, Richard H. Freeman (Boulder Junction, WI); a daughter, Martha Kate Freeman (Federal Way, WA); three granddaughters, Molly Bess Alm (Denver, CO), Rachel Kate Alm (Olympia, WA), Emily Johanna Alm (Tacoma, WA); and a great-granddaughter, Linnea Spring Whisenhunt. A son, James Patrick Freeman, predeceased her. Mrs. Freeman attended Brodhead High School and Beloit College (WI). In 1960 she appeared in Who's Who in Wisconsin as a civic worker for the Beloit community. She won four city golf championships in Beloit and was inducted in 1992 into the Beloit Historical Society's Sports Hall of Fame. While living in Colorado Springs, Mrs. Freeman volunteered at Rockrimmon Elementary, Eagleview Middle School, and the Garden of the Gods Visitor's Center. She also served as a volunteer at the 50th Women's U.S. Open Golf Tournament at the Broadmoor. An enthusiastic bridge player, she was also an active member of Delta Gamma sorority.
