Jean Michel Obituary

Jean Weinand Michel, 89, passed away peacefully on January 29, 2016.

Jean was born in Hanover, MN, to William and Laurie Weinand. She graduated from Buffalo High School and attended The University of Minnesota. Post graduation, she resided in Minnesota and Louisiana. Her career included teaching Home Economics and managing Food Service for Louisiana State University.

Jean married twice in her life and bore two children in her first marriage, Sam and Carol. She met her soulmate, Melvin M. Michel, and remarried for a long and loving marriage. She survived her second husband and eventually moved to Colorado Springs, CO, where she joined her children and their families until her passing.

Jean loved the outdoors, fishing, lunch out with her friends, reading, gourmet cooking, and baked the best cinnamon rolls ever. Many of her recipes are still used today by her family members, and will be passed down through future generations. We know nothing could please her more.

Jean is survived by her sisters, Joyce Mighton and Cynthia Carter, her children, Samuel M. Rovik and Carol R. Culbertson, their spouses, Kathi W. Rovik and Robert D. Culbertson, grandchildren Darcy and James Eckels, Jocelyn Rovik, Ian Culbertson, Abbie Culbertson, Lance and Kim McClelland, Bryon Jones, and great grandchildren Kayla McClelland, Katie McClelland, Evan Jones and Ella Jones. Jean is also survived by her 2 sisters, Joyce Mighton and Cynthia Carter, her brother, William Weinand Jr., and their families.

A mass will be held at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, Colorado Springs, on Saturday, February 6, 2016, at 5:30 p.m. Her ashes will be interred at Memorial Gardens Cemetery at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, it is Jean's wish that you donate to either Hospice Compassus of Colorado Springs, 655 Southpointe Ct., Colorado Springs, CO, 80906, or Fellowship of Catholic University Students, P.O. Box 18710, Golden, CO, 80402.

The family of Jean W. Michel wishes to give special thanks to Colorado CareAssist and Hospice Compassus. A very special thanks to Bogdana, Marion, Diane, Stephanie, Nicole, Brittany, and Rosa. Without their care and love we could not have made her as comfortable and supported until her passing.

Jean was truly a remarkable woman. She dearly loved her family and friends and will be deeply missed. We wish her kisses on the wind.
