Jean Patterson Obituary

Jean Ann passed on January 9 at Fort Hudson Nursing home surrounded by her family.

Jean Ann was the first born to Jared H and Pearl Stark of Fort Ann NY. They built their home on Route 149 in West Fort Ann and Jean resided there until she married.

Jean graduated from Fort Ann Central in 1960. While in high school she was active in the band and a cheerleader for the Cardinals.

In school she met her future husband and the father of her children David E Jacobsen. They were married at the West Fort Ann Methodist Church in 1961 after David enlisted in the Air Force. Jean then settled in becoming a military wife. She lived on various bases raising her children.

After their divorce Jean moved to the South where she worked as a bookkeeper and secretary to various businesses and in the emergency department of a large hospital as a ward clerk.

She moved back to West Fort Ann and lived in the family home on Joe Green Road. Back home she did bookkeeping for small local businesses and worked a 20 year career at Continental Insurance before retiring.

Jean had her weekends filled with grandchildren and family. She was never as happy then when the grandchildren were there to play, have a meal, spend the night. She was a very involved Mimi to all.

Jean was an avid gardener having a very large vegetable garden every year. She was also an incredible cook which many in the neighborhood could attest to.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Tamera Stewart of Garland Texas, David (Terri) Jacobsen of NC, Lisa (Glenn) Clouse of Hudson Falls and Thomas (Cindy) Jacobsen of Glens Falls. Her grandchildren: Dana Wilson, Lianne Wadsworth, Eric Bolton, Cassandra Haviland, Cody Jacobsen, Joshua Jacobsen, Jeannie Jacobsen, Wayne Denton, Taylor Jacobsen, Cassandra Jacobsen and Erica Jacobsen. Her great grandchildren: Paige and Payton Haviland, Jaelynn Stone, Eli Bolton, Colby and Kaylee Wadsworth, Mia Wilson, Caleb Jacobsen and Mika Jacobsen. She is also survived by her sister in law Gretchen Stark and daughter in law Lucy Rabine as well as many cousines, nieces and nephews and dear friends.

Jean was predeceased by her parents Jared H and Pearl Stark, her brothers Richard and Jared Stark along with many aunts, cousins from the Stark and Hunsperger families.

Jeans family would like to thank the staff at Fort Hudson including but not limited to Bonnie, Justin, Michelle, Carla, April and Nicole.

At Jean's request there will be no funeral. She is being cremated and laid to rest with her parents in Browns Cemetery in the spring.

As Jean was a very kind and loving person in tribute to her she would have loved all of us to just be kind to someone every day.
