Jeanne Joyce Obituary
Memorial Service for Jeanne Dunn Joyce will be held Tuesday June 27, 2006 at 1:00 pm at Palestine Church with Pastors Danny Rodriquez and Shane Harris officiating. Visitation will take place at the church after the service. Burial will be at the Palestine City Cemetery. Jeanne Dunn Joyce went to be with our Lord on June 17, 2006, at her daughter's home in Colorado with her family at her side. She was born November 9, 1928 in Calvert, TX to Fred and Winiford Belle Hinsely Dunn. She married Jerry Joyce (Claude Gerald Joyce Jr.) on June 11, 1949, at the First United Methodist Church in Palestine, TX. Jeanne spent her first twenty years of marriage raising her family and then returned to complete her college education with her daughter Karen at Stephen F. Austin State University with a Bachelor of Arts in education and journalism, then completed her Masters in creative writing at the University of Dallas in 1978. Her appreciation and love for language, writing and art will always be remembered by those who knew her well. She enjoyed teaching English at the Palestine Christian School, Sunday School, and Bible studies. Although she has been battling cancer for many years, her devotion has been to her family. She attended Grace Bible Church of Palestine and the Anglican International Church of Colorado Springs, CO. She was preceded in death by son-in-law, James Sheffer in 2004. She is survived by her husband, Jerry Joyce, two daughters, Sandra Harris of Austin, TX, and Karen Sheffer of Colorado Springs, CO; her brother, Ray Dunn of Sugarland, TX; grandchildren Ali Sheffer of Colorado Springs, CO; Shane Harris and wife, Stacey Harris of Austin, TX; David Harris and wife, Amy Harris of Conroe, TX; Karen Haro and husband, Luis Haro of Palestine, TX. Great grandchildren include Hanna, John and Emma Harris and Rebecca and Emily Haro. Also included are two nieces and a nephew, Suzanne Steele and husband Don, Diane White and her husband, Peter and David Dunn and his wife Misty. Memorial contributions may be made in Jeanne's memory to the Dale House Project, 7 West Dale Street, Colorado Springs, CO 80903; Vision Austin Church, 8818 Trinity Hills Drive, Apt. 1216, Austin, TX 78735; and Grace Bible Church, P.O.
