Jeanne Moodt Obituary

Jeanne Moodt, 89, formerly of Cheyenne Place, died March 20, 2013, at Memorial Hospital following surgery for a fractured hip. Jeanne was born December 21, 1923, in Chicago and lived most of her life in Michigan, near her youngest daughter Cheryl and Cheryl's two children Carole and LeAnne. Jeanne has three children, Jack Hobbs, Linda Hobbs and Cheryl Agne. In recent years Jeanne enjoyed travel to Seattle twice, to attend LeAnne's wedding reception and later to meet her newest great granddaughter Marina. In late 2008 Jeanne moved to Colorado to live with Carole and in mid-2010 she moved to Cheyenne Place. Jeanne was a spitfire who joined the roller derby in 1941 and also sang in Chicago nightclubs. Jeanne's mother was a feather dancer in Vaudeville and on the same Midwest tour with Red Skelton, who watched Jeanne backstage when her mom was performing. At age 13 Jeanne's mom had her join the act. Jeanne had a wild and hard youth and developed a tough skin, but she always warmed to attention. The family would like to thank the office of Dr. Andrew Ellias for such kindness to Jeanne.

You were loved G and will be missed. I have many fond memories of holidays at grandmas, especially those at the house on the canal.

You were a strong sassy broad and I always admired that about you.

Jeanne and I became friends at Cheyenne Place, after we discovered that we had the same birthdate, December 21st. She used to beable to get up into my truck and I would take her places she wanted and needed to go.
When she adopted Frankie "blue eyes" from the humane society she said that Frankie and my beagle, Kasie, would become good friends. I thought it impossibe because of all the hissing and chasing...but, she was right...before too long thay would meet at the door and end up sleeping on the carpet side by side.
Jeanne was a real "spitfire", but we lost connection when she moved into the building from the cottage...but I have some very good memories.

Love to Jeanne and her family,

Jeanne and I became very close friends soon after she moved to Cheyenne Place. We discovered we shared the same birthdate, December 21st. We continued our friendship even though I moved away from Cheyenne Place. She was able to get up into my truck and I took her many places she needed to go. She definitely was a "spitfire" and, when she got "Frankie blue eyes" from the humane society, my dog Kasie K, the beagle, and the cat became very good friends. Jeanne said we will have to work on them being friends and I doubted that it could happen...but she was so right. At first, it was hissing and Kasie chasing Frankie...but then, they worked everything out, and became great buddies. They used to greet eachother at the door like two puppies and end up sleeping side by side on the carpet.

I discontinued to see her, after she moved from the cottage to indoors, but I remember many memorable times.

Will always remember holidays at Grandma's house - always just me, Carole and my mom Cheryl - every major holiday every year until I was in my 30s - being silly with my sister (you always complained you couldn't get a normal picture). So glad you danced at my wedding reception G-ma...
