Jeffery Allison Obituary

Jeffery Glen Allison, a resident of Colorado Springs since 1968, passed away of a heart attack Sunday, December 8, 2013.

Jeffery was born on April 15, 1961 to Billy Glen and Mary Alice (Gillott) Allison in Wichita Falls, Texas. He graduated from Mitchell High School, and was a state champion swimmer. He attended college on a swimming scholarship for one year at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas and for a second year at West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas.

He had a passion for life, laughter, and sports. He loved attending live sporting events such as football, hockey, soccer, and swimming. He was an avid football fan and enjoyed the Denver Broncos and the Dallas Cowboys. He also enjoyed rooting for the Colorado College Tigers. He had a wicked sense of humor and a courageous smile, always putting others at ease. He had a compassionate heart eager to help with anything he could. He had a passion for the ocean, and although he lived in Colorado much of his life, he dressed in shorts and flip flops year round as if he was going to the beach.

He is survived by his daughter, Chelsea Allison; step-sons: Nathan Devenyns and Matthew Devenyns; granddaughter, Dawnielle Devenyns; sister, Diane Allison Jones; father: Billy Allison; step-mother, LaQuita Allison; former spouse and friend, Donna R. Allison; nieces: Haley Anne Riordan and Allison Marie Jones. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Alice Allison.

In lieu of flowers for the memorial service, a trust is being set up for his daughter Chelsea and granddaughter Dawnielle.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, December 13, 2013 at the Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel. Interment will be private.

Jeff's 12-year old B-Day

I knew Jeff and his family during the early 70's in Huntington Beach, CA. We carpooled with the Allison's to Newport High School for swim practice and swam competitively. In the summers we were Junior Lifeguards at the beach and played waterpolo. As many here have said he had a bright personality that lifted up the people around him and always seemed to be smiling. We lost touch as many military families do I'll always remember him as one of my best Best Friends.

Chelsea and family I was very sad to hear of your dads passing today. Cindy shared this with me. I was so sad I remember walking with my dog on a daily basis and your dad would always tell me hi. If he was driving he would slow down and stop and chat with me for a minute. I m so sorry Chelsea your dad was a great man always a pleasure to talk with him. I consider him friend and just so sorry for the loss.

Jeff was one of my first friends when I attended Mitchell in 1978 as a junior. He was always so positive and such a great guy. Although I have not talked to him since 1979, I have thought of him often. I am shocked at his passing and I'm at a loss for words. Rest in peace my friend.

Jeff was a superb and talented swimmer, truly driven and successful. Even though his talent soared above the best of the best, he was down to earth, kind and a friend. He was humble. He was a fun person and helped make swimming with the Colorado Springs Swim Team a fun family of swimmers. My heart goes out to his family and friends, for he was taken way to early. May he rest in peace.

Jeff Allison was a truly gifted swimmer and a fun person to be around. Even though his talent soared above most, he always presented himself as equal and as a friend. His positive attitude and fun spirit are an inspiration to this day. I'm sorry for his passing at such a young age. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends. What a great loss.

It has been years since I saw you last, but I will never forget all of the fun we had. You and Scott thought you were so clever, eating at your house and then coming to our house like you had not had dinner yet, ready for another dinner. I will always cherish my many fond memories of you in our younger years! Marci Twombly
