I had the privilege of being taught by Mr. Courtier for 3 years of drama and 2 years of English. He was one of my favorite teachers of all time. We laughed a lot in his class, but we also learned a lot. I will forever treasure the memories I have of him...

My heart-felt sympathies to you and your families! Wow, I just can't believe he isn't here anymore! What a man of integrity, honor, wisdom, and compassion! I learned a lot from him! A truly inspired Bishop as well -- my Bishop! He will live forever in my heart and mind! I so very sorry that I wasn't able to be at the funeral! We love you all! God bless!

I am eternally grateful to Jeff Courtier for the many lessons he taught my daughter Jacey. It was an honor and privilege to teach with Jeff, and a true gift to have him as my daughter's teacher. If teaching was the only thing Jeff ever did (and we know it wasn't) it will be the greatest thing he ever did. He will live on forever through his many students. Thank you, thank you for sharing him with us.

We are praying for the Courtier family today. We are saddened by your loss. We knew the family through Woodland Park High School and knew his daughters through our daughter, Bre. Please know we will keep you in our prayers. May your memories sustain you in the days ahead. Jim and Deb Rocco

I worked at WPHS with Jeff for 6 years & found him to be a dedicated professional, but more important to me than that, he was an inspiring teacher for my sons Seth & Josh Bate. Blessings & gratitude, Jeff.

My name is Larry Knott, Jeff was my teacher in Woodland Park High school. School was easy for me and I had good grades. Then I met Mr. Courtier. Within a couple of weeks in his class I was getting C's and D's on some of my papers. I compared them with others in my class, and mine were better than the others getting A's. I asked Jeff why he didn't like me. He said he did like me but I had a talent for writing and he was grading me on the effort I was applying, and that I could do much better. I told him that was not fair. He said "tough, it's my class, that's the way it is". I put in my best effort and started getting A's. It was not easy, but most things in life take alot of work. He helped teach me to always put 100% in whatever you do. I will always remember and respect him.

Jeff Courtier was many things, mentor, teacher, actor and motivator. He was my homeroom/English teacher freshman year and drama and forensics coach for all four years. He had a gift to bring out the best in his students, helping those who thought they were too shy to excel in drama or forensics to become actors and speakers. I know that my ability to communicate was greatly formed by this wonderful man, for that I will be forever grateful. Every time I step behind a podium to moderate a meeting, or to lead in my organizations, I will feel his presence, quietly supporting my cause.
Your job on earth is done faithful servant, may you now rest in peace.

I've know Jeff for twenty-eight years, he was my quiet friend. I valued our friendship and respected his way with students who learned not only drama and debate but how to manage life and enjoy success! He worked so hard and long and loved almost every minute of it. We all knew how much his family meant to him, now he can watch in peace.

Mr. Courtier was a great teacher whose professionalism and, above all else, warmth and patience, made him amongst the finest educators I have ever had the pleasure to know. His legacy will outlast the current catastrophe afflicting Woodland Park, and the high school he loved if the worst occurs, and live on in the thousands of students whose hearts he touched and guided through those difficult years of transition from adolescent to adult. We all owe him a profound debt for his dedication and mentorship and every one of is a better person for having known him. Rest in Peace and thank you.

I only had Jeff as a drama teacher and debate coach in 1974 and 1975 while at Woodland Park High School, but the theatre skills in acting, debate and set production and other areas prepared me for several more years of acting and theatre when I moved to Florida on into my college years and beyond and these skills continue to serve me well as a United Methodist pastor. Thanks, Mr. Cortier! You made an impact on so many lives!

I have such fond memories of Jeff - not only as my son Sean's drama coach in high school, but of the time we acted together in Neil Simon's female version of "The Odd Couple" Jeff and my husband Cliff were hilarious as the two Spanish brothers. What fun that was. Rest in peace, Jeff. You are greatly missed. Love to all the family, Carole Woolman

Jeff Courtier, "Cortie" was a mentor, a teacher, and after four years of dealing with my antics, a friend. I can say I am who I am today, in part because his light touched my life. It with sadness and sorrow I write these words. His wisdom guided me, and thousands of children to make the right choices and dare think that they are special, and can, and should, be who and what they want to be, but to remember who they are inside. I will miss you Mr. C. But I will never forget you. Thank you.

Mr. Courtier was a fabulous man. I remember some pretty intense conversations with him in beginning drama. He didn't know this, but because of his teaching, I went on and did some little theater work, a commercial, and a summer session at the American Academy of dramatic arts. I was also an elementary school music teacher. Getting up on front of a class was a heck of a lot easier after learning the skills he taught me. Thank you Mr. Courtier for everything. You shall be missed greatly.

Mr. Courtier was an extraordinary drama teacher and coach. He always challenged and stretched me to reach a higher and deeper level of acting, and he inspired me to embrace and understand the power of drama. The methods and skills he taught me in high school are still appreciated and utilized today in ministering the Gospel. I will never forget his leadership in taking our acting trio all the way to top State honors in the One-Act Competition. I am so grateful to have had a tender conversation with Mr. Courtier just a few weeks ago, and I was able to thank him for being my teacher. My heart is very heavy to experience losing him, for he was too young, and my prayers and sincere condolences are with Mrs. Courtier and the family.

I just reconnected with Mr. Courtier about two years ago. I am so glad I did. His guidance to me when I was young is the major reason I pursued things in my life I did. He believed in me and gave me a passion for performing arts which I did not have prior to his instruction. I did not know he had passed, I am sorry for this loss.

As my drama teacher, Jeff Courtier helped me to channel my teenage "drama queen" tendencies into something real and positive. His undying patience, encouragement, and kindness made an enduring impression on the course of my life. He will always have a very special place in my heart. With gratitude, Deborah Harris Skelton

Mr. Courtier and I did not always see eye to eye. On several occasions though, he saw something in me that I did not see in myself. Mr. Courtier tossed me out of my comfort zone and trusted me to respond and I did. I can truly say that working with Mr. Courtier in Drama and Speech/Debate, I learned a lot about myself and obtained skills that I use to this day in my daily professional life. Thank you Mr. Courtier! I'll hope to see you on the other side. Bravo!
Thanks, Mr. Courtier!
