Jeffrey Johnstone Obituary

Jeffrey Paul Johnstone, 47, passed away February 1st, 2016 at his home in Colorado Springs.

Jeff was a loving and devoted father to Hannah and Abigail. We will always remember his artistic soul and gentle nature. A talented writer, he served as Editor in Chief of Professional Bull Rider's Magazine.

The son of a military family, he spent his youth in a variety of locales including Tampa, FL, McLean, VA, Wilmington, NC, Seoul, Korea, and Brooklyn, NY, before his family settled in San Francisco, California. After graduating from St. Ignatius College Preparatory in 1986, Jeffrey earned an English degree from Whitman College in Walla Walla, Washington, and his law degree at Notre Dame. However, he ultimately found his home in Colorado Springs.

In addition to his daughters, Jeffrey leaves behind his father, Homer, of Petaluma, CA, brothers Michael (Mary) of Tiburon, CA, and Ryan (Erica) of Salt Lake City, UT, his former wife, Jennifer Johnstone, and beloved nieces and nephews Lance, Kylie, Skye, and Gage Johnstone.

Services will be held at Calvary Worship Center, 501 Castle Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80904, Saturday, Feb. 6 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, friends can donate to a fund established for his daughters at KeyBank, 719-228-4006.

Where has the time gone my friend? I miss our friendship, sparring about different topics and immediately think of you when I see Notre Dame playing. You would be pleased with them, they are playing at a high level these days. See you on the Mountain this year for the 99th running.

Via con Dios, Dear Jeff. Whatever will we do without your sarcastic posts? We will forever remember hanging out in NYC, and other PBR events. Such fun! You've been a great friend. Much love to Hannah and Abby.

"Forever, and forever, farewell, Cassius! If we do meet again, why, we shall smile; If not, why then this parting was well made."

Jeff, thanks for always being there my friend. I will miss our exchange of Lonesome Dove quotes, your smile, your laugh but most of all your inspiration. Thank you for being there for me on those early mornings on Pikes Peak, even when your car caught on fire. Safe travels amigo, I hope to see you on the other side, maybe we can get that fishing trip in that we always talked about. I'll miss you buddy.
