Jeffrey Rhoads Obituary

Rhoads
Jeffrey L. Rhoads
April 16, 1963 - February 25, 2018
Beloved son and brother, Jeffrey Rhoads, of Colorado Springs passed away unexpectedly on February 25, 2018 while visiting a friend in Littleton, Co. Jeff was born in Rapid City, S.D. to parents Mike and Judith Godwin. At age 13 months he moved with his family to Co. and spent the rest of his life here. In 1968 he was adopted by his step-father, Malcolm Rhoads, and his last name changed to Rhoads.
As a small boy his ambition was always to grow up and become a viking. Even as an adult he enjoyed researching viking history and mythology. He began ice skating at a young age and played hockey from age 6 through high school. He also won speed skating ribbons competing at the state level. One of his greatest pleasures in life was riding his motorcycle in the great outdoors of Co. He also enjoyed fishing and target shooting. Jeff loved animals and saved a number of animals who had been abused or injured. For most of his life he kept beautiful aquariums and especially enjoyed raising African cyclids.
Jeff was a friendly person and loved conversing about almost anything. Like the rest of his family, he was a bit opinionated. He had a great and often quirky sense of humor. He was a very devoted son and grandson. He had a kind heart and would help anyone in need. He had no children of his own, but helped raise his ex-wife's 4 grandchildren.
Jeff graduated from Wasson High School and attended a technical school afterwards. He always enjoyed working with his hands and spent most of his life working in large appliance repairs and sales.
He was preceded in death by grandparents, Leland (Jim) and Corinne James, aunt, Katharine Pippenger, and sister-in-law, Nora Hanson.
He is survived by mother, Judith Rhoads and brother, Douglas Rhoads, his mother's partner, Darroll Clifford, uncle, Richard Pippenger, and cousin, Rob (Diane) Pippenger and their children. He is also survived by his beloved daughter dog, Drucilla.
Jeff leaves a hole in the heart of his mother and brother that will never be filled.
Per his wishes, no services are planned and his ashes will be privately scattered by his family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Humane Society of the Pikes Peak Region.
