Jerome Robert Nelson went to his maker January 1, 2018 at age 71 after a short battle with previously undiagnosed duodenal cancer. His increasing pain levels that started two years ago were virtually ignored and discounted as opioid tolerance.
He is survived by his brother, Jeff, two daughters, Natalie and Piper and his long-time companion/common law wife of 30+ years, Lanny Blanchard.
Jerry's first jobs were with Frito Lay when it was still on Colorado Avenue and a produce company delivering produce to surrounding towns. He went to college in Pueblo and during that time enlisted in the Navy during the Vietnam era. Upon graduation, he went to work for NAPA Auto parts and worked there for 20 years. He also taught Engines I and II at PPCC concurrently. He then spent several years at C & G Machine until his physical problems required retirement.
Jerry was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved those activities. He even got the 113th full curl ram in in Colorado in 1982. The last few years he was limited in his ability to participate in the activities he loved. He was building a project 4x4 when he passed and it will never be finished. He is and will continue to be missed mightily.
