Jerome Seracuse Obituary

Jerome Mario (Jerry) Seracuse was born on June 9, 1933 and died on September 5, 2015. Jerry was truly larger than life and will be missed by many, including his loving wife Linda, 5 children, 10 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.

Jerry graduated from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor of Architecture degree and went on to enjoy a successful career as one of Colorado's most highly respected architects. He founded Seracuse Lawler & Partners (SLP) and his diverse projects included The Denver International Airport concourses, Crandon Park Tennis Center (FL), multiple office buildings throughout Denver, and most recently, countless custom homes as a sole practitioner. Jerry's attention to and respect for nature, led to structures that enriched the beautiful land they were built on rather than detracting from it. In 1984, Jerry was honored by his peers, and became a Fellow of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA), a title he wore with great pride. Because of his eye for esthetics, his integrity and high standards, Jerry served on multiple Design Review Boards, including the University of Colorado (8 campuses) and the Denver Technological Center, playing a key role in drafting design standards and guidelines, and ensuring that the quality of those standards were upheld. For his contributions to CU he was awarded the Mack Easton Award; and in 2008, for his 30 years of service at DTC, Jerry was honored with Seracuse Park within the center.

He will not only be remembered for the beautiful structures he left behind, but for his love of life and wonderful sense of humor. Jerry brought joy into everything he did and to everyone he met.

A memorial service will be held Saturday September 12th, 2pm. Grace and St. Stephen's Episcopal Church. 601 N Tejon Street.

In lieu of flowers consider donations to the University of Colorado Foundation's College of Architecture and Planning, fund #0321001 or to Grace & St. Stephen's Episcopal Church.

Rector Linda and Family: Thank you for sharing Jerry's warm friendship, counsel, humor, and "balance" with so many of us at St. James The Apostle Episcopal Church of Conroe, TX during Linda's service and leadership as our Rector. Jerry was always ready and willing to help us in any endeavor where his professional experience was called upon by others including me. The Seracuse legacy, a well designed additionadmired and enjoyed by so many every day of the year, lives-on at Camp Allen, an Episcopal Diocese Retreat outside of Navasota, TX just as our memory of Linda does at St. James' where both were admired and respected. May God Bless All of You in the years ahead. Semper Fi,

Linda and Family---- Jerry was, and will continue to be, a guiding force in my life, both personally and professionally. He taught me to ''always take the high road'', and to approach life with optimism, compassion for others, and with a sense of humor. He was at his best when times were the toughest, and I have often drawn strength from memories of how he approached some tough times at work. There was always a joke or a funny comment involved! I was blessed to know him, and am grateful to have had him in my life as a mentor and a friend. My heart goes out to you all during this very sad time. ----- Luci

Linda and family: So sorry to hear of Jerry's passing. I have so many fond memories of my SLP days in the 1980's. He was such an inspiration to so many and so kind and funny. I will always treasure my days working with him. Heaven is a better place now. Kelley Roach, Denver
