Dear John and Sarah,
I just want to thank you for taking Jerrod in and raising him like on of your own. I know Steve would of been proud of the way he turned out. You were such wonderful parents to him, and you always kept my mom up-to-date on Jerrod. I was I could of got to know Jerrod better, but he will always be in my heart because he was a part of my family. Just remember, he is there with his mom and dad enjoying life, hunting and fishing with his dad, like I know he loved to do.

You will be missed in so many ways and I will never forget how welcoming you were to me as a new student to Manitou in middle school. I pray that god keep you safe and close and my prayers go out to your family.

Jerrod you will be missed. I will always remember park n rec football together and then baseball. You made the plane ride to Vegas so much fun. You will greatly be missed my friend... but never forgotten. Miss ya man.

Jerrod was such a good guy, someone I always looked forward to running into at school simply because he had such a great smile and he always genuinely cared about what you were saying. My prayers and thoughts go out to his family and close friends. He will be greatly missed, but not forgotten.

Our family carries a very heavy heart for you. We simply want you to know that we will be thinking about you in the coming weeks, months, and even years.

We have admired how you've raised all three of your boys, and the kindness and goodness all of you have always shown as a family. You should absolutely know that even through this tragedy, you guys do it the right way. We greatly appreciate you being such an active and positive part of the Manitou community, and it is indeed a better community because of all of you.

Take care of yourselves, take care of each other, take your time, and do what you need to do. Please know that there is a large community of people that share at least some of your pain. We hope you can find hope and strength in knowing that this community will be here for you.

Hey buddy, we've had some pretty wild times together... The camping trip in a car, fishing by the bank with all that ice and snow, those poker games, the BBQs... I miss you man. Why so early? You were one of the best friends I've ever had, and I just wished that we would have spend more time together... It wasn't you time. Love you Jerrod...

I do not know you but I am a student at UCCS and I wanted you to know I will be praying for you all. This breaks my heart any loss can be hard but a loss of a son or grandson is by far the hardest. I can't tell you how much sadness i feel over his death. I did not know him personally, but i had seen him around campus.

At UCCS we are all a community, and if we loose one, the entire community feels it.

My heart goes out for you.

Having a death is always hard and uneasy. Our sincerest condolence to the Jerrod's family. May our Heavenly Father hold you in his loving arms.

We will miss Jared. He was a wonderful, caring grandson to his grandmother Margie Spain who he helped tend her home and yard in her declining years. He was ago a good son who helped with his younger brothers. An excellent student with a bright future. A hard worker who worked summers while in high school. He loved his family and would spend all his time with them camping and enjoying sports. He was most fortunate to have such wonderful parents as John and Sarah Rivera who loved his very much. We will see you again some day Jerrod.

My heart is breaking for you all. Jerrod was in my first class of 5th graders at Manitou Elementary and I remember his sweet disposition. He was kind and good which was a memory I have of that whole class. Just a great kid. My family's prayers are for peace for your whole family.
