I wish we had more backstory besides him just being santa. He nailed the role and has brought joy to many children and parents. Wasnt only a good santa but a good man.

At Customer Tire Center I always looked forward to assisting Jerry with any pneumatic problem, but always looked forward to receiving one of Jerry´s checks ... with every identifying description you could ask fore to include the size of his shoes and BVD´s!! I am proud to say that I styled Jerry's hair and beard for him before his first appearance as Santa! That experience changed him in such a positive way: it made a good person even better. In all the years I knew him, I never saw him without a smile and a good word. I will miss him. Rest well, Jerry.

Always bringing something to add to the celebration. The first to send a handwritten letter of thanks for every invitation. A ray of sunshine for all.

I remember going to see him when I was very little and for my twins first Christmas to him! One cried the other smiled! I used to even as an adult

So sad to hear the news of Jerry´s passing. Our family felt so fortunate to see the best Santa ever every Christmas! We truly appreciated him. Visiting him was a beloved tradition. He will be missed and fondly remembered during Christmas´ to come.

I am so blessed to have the memories with the genuine, and gentle Santa. His bright light will truly be missed and we will forever be thankful for the time we had with him.

Santa was truly a special person. I very much enjoyed our relationship over the last 30 years. I loved his emails that he would send while being Santa in Minnesota. The world is not as interesting without him. I will miss him.

He was the only Santa my boys ever knew. I have photos of him holding my now 18yr old done when he was just 2 months old. The world will be a little less bright without his light.

I remember walking threw home depot during Christmas. My 6 year old son at the time was so excited and hollered "Santa". He walked right up to my son and had a nice little conversation with for about 10 mins or so, handed him a ribbon that said " I'm on Santa's nice list". Wasnt in no hurry. The community will not be the same without you. Rest Easy Santa!

He was truly Santa. He embodied the spirit of giving . He was Santa to my grandchildren and to me. You will be missed. Rest in peace you earned it.

Santa Jerry was an incredible man and our family will miss him tremendously. My daughters, now grown, have never known any other Santa and long after their days of Santa visits still spoke of how special he made them feel every time they visited him. One of our favorite memories surrounded my daughter's birthday, which falls 3 days before Christmas. When Santa Jerry found out during our annual visit, he stopped the entire mall and with his bells led everyone in singing her Happy Birthday (picturd). He truly was the best. Heaven must be bursting with joy to have gained Santa Jerry and some day we hope to be reunited with him there.

Thank you for opening your heart to so many. You brought magic to not only children but to adults as well!

I was one of many who helped do Santa´s hair and get him ready for photos at the mall. He was the kindest man ever and had us all believing in Christmas spirit! Rest in peace Santa.

When I lived in Rochester I remember always seeing his bright smile. He would go out of his way for anyone. My condolences to his family and friends

I am saddened by this loss. When my oldest granddaughter was only a few months old we waited in line to have her picture taken with him/Santa. However, the wait was long, so by the time it was our turn, she´d fallen asleep. No problem for Santa. He set it up as if they both fell asleep reading a book. My favorite picture. Wish I had a digital copy to share with you. It brought tears to my eyes to see him do this. He went the extra mile to make the experience special. My prayers are with you at his truly sad time!!!

Santa Jerry was so loved and will be greatly missed in Rochester. Lots of fond memories of him particularly when I worked at the Mouse at the Miracle Mile.
One year my church Christmas caroled at St. Mary's. After the caroling we had a dinner in the mini mall and invited Santa to join us. He came and sat at the kid's table and it was such a special time for them and all of us!

Rest in peace. You were a loved part of our family tradition for many years. As the kids grew older they always were willing to "take grampa to see Santa" because they knew how much he loved the tradition. Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.

Our thoughts are with his friends and family! He´s the only Real Santa our girl has ever known. In fact, we were just talking about him the other day. Many thanks for sharing his magical spirit with us!

Santa, you were such a great part of our girls' lives on Woodmoor Mountain. Even being the best to pull smiles out of the grumpy faces as they tried to become non believers in those teen years. You could always get a smile even going so far as to trying to get then to loosen up with goofy yoga positions in your decorated crocs!

I have an awesome Santa story, I love this man, he was a good man, and Santa, you will be missed!

It was early in the morning, it was dark, and I was walking to a job site.

All of a sudden, Santa appeared, and I looked at him and he looked at me and he says come here.

Little girl, I have something special for you because I can feel your spirit, I could tell that you do a lot of good for people, and he gave me a special little note and a candy cane.

I cried, I cried so much because that job site that I was going to was really hard. I was working with some really mean people.

Santa Claus reminded me of who I was and my purpose.

God bless you, Santa Claus, Rochester and all of Minnesota will truly miss you!

I remember one Christmas Eve he attended midnight services and the children were in awe.

I'm extremely heartbroken. He's was the best Santa ever. I'm an adult and had the best phot opportunity with him. Sometimes you just have to be a kid. You will be greatly missed. Rest in peace Santa Condolences to the family

This just brings tears to my eyes. What a wonderful, gentle, loving soul,that not only brought the magic of Christmas to all those children, but helped the adults believe again. To believe in not only the magic of Christmas, but that there was still goodness in this world. He once gave my son a sleigh bell. It is a cherished peice of our Christmas tradition. I guess apart of me truly believed you where immortal. But I know you will live in our hearts forever.

I knew Jerry as Rochester's Real Santa Claus. The mall hired him and the city embraced him! My children believed in Santa because they believed in him. He gifted my daughter with one of his bells the Christmas she began to doubt. It hangs on our tree every year. When it is unpacked, my now adult kids handle it tenderly, reminisce about this kind , gentle man, and smile. Jerry's legacy lives on it all who met him! Jerry, thank you for making the magic live on!

He always brought Joy, even in the smallest of moments (like a quick visit to our building and my office). He shared his excitement for upcoming travels for his Santa gigs and the joy for the children he will be showing love to! Rest in Peace Dear Friend

I will always remember how kind you were with my two boys. The first had oxygen and you were so gentle. The second was in the midst of a very tough Kindergarten year and afraid he´d been too naughty. You were exactly what he needed in that moment. Thank you for giving to Rochester for so many years!

I had the honor of visiting Santa while home for the holidays and helping Vince Reynolds for Toys for Tots. We always had to make a stop to see the big man of the season. I still have my `honorary elf´ certificate have gave me many years ago and will continue to cherish it. You were Christmas in the eyes of so many in Rochester, Mn.

I am so sorry for the loss of this gentleman . The first time I saw him it made me think of my long gone childhood. GOD BLESS this special man!

Ran into Santa one day while on my route. We will all miss seeing you!

In my first job out of college, I was hired to do marketing and events for Apache Mall in Rochester, Minnesota. It was absolutely the best job I ever had! And in 2002, when our local Santa appeared in several photos with a very inappropriate finger standing up, it was my job to find a new Santa.

I received resumes for various Santas, from a company who hires trains I´m all over the country. I did phone interviews with only three of them, and when I talked with Jerry, I absolutely knew he was the one. He came to Rochester from Colorado Springs, where he was a Harley-riding electrician...and we decided we would never disclose his real identity to the public.

I promoted him as the real Santa, created all kinds of hype in the mall and throughout the community. We welcomed him with a "Wake up Santa" show featuring the Teddy Bear Band, and I found sponsorships from hotels, restaurants, car dealerships, hair salons and even the mattress store in the mall, who all provided the means to take good care of Santa while he was in Rochester.

He had an amazing routine of ringing his bells and yelling "Ho, Ho, Ho!" throughout the mall when he first arrived in the morning, he had a radio geared up and elves who would answer back when he asked questions. We set him up with the local radio station to answer questions from kids by phone, he did television interviews in full character, and he was larger than life.

On his own, he spent time at the Ronald McDonald house, volunteered and formed amazing friendships throughout the community. He also kept in touch, sending me letters over the years, and I was so thankful when I got to bring my own baby boy to meet him.

Rest peacefully, Jerry Your legacy will live on forever in the lives of all those you touched. I´m so thankful to have known and loved you all these years.
