Jerry White Obituary

Jerry C. White, a Colorado Springs resident since 1972, died peacefully in his sleep on December 6, 2006 at the age of 74. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Martha "Marty" J. (Church) White, their children David A. White and Barbara K. (White) Casados, grandchildren Patrick A. and April R. Casados, all of Colorado Springs, a brother, Kenneth E. White of Laingsburg, Michigan and a sister Reba N. (White) Sawyer of Miami, Florida. Jerry was born to Olin and Leona White in Higden, Arkansas on July 12, 1932. His family moved to Kennett, Missouri where they farmed until moving to Lansing, Michigan in 1942. Jerry graduated from Lansing Eastern High School and attended Michigan State University before entering the US Army and serving as a paratrooper with the 11th Airborne Division during the Korean War. Jerry married Martha J. Church of Bad Axe, Michigan on Dec. 6, 1953. He worked for the Post Office in Lansing and in 1960 moved to Flint, MI where he worked as a claims adjuster and insurance agent. In 1972 Jerry moved his family to Colorado Springs where he sold real estate and was a property manager before retiring in 1994. Jerry loved to ski and was a lifetime member of the Over the Hill Gang ski club. He was a member of Pikes Peak Road Runners and at age 70 ran a 5K race with his two grandchildren. He was a private man, an avid reader and enjoyed hiking, camping, playing ping pong, and being with his family. He is dearly missed by all who loved him. A private family celebration of his life has been held. His ashes will be scattered in the mountains he loved so much.
