Jerry Winings Obituary

Jerry Winings, age 89, of Colorado Springs, Colorado passed away from complications associated with Dementia, on March 1, 2010. Jerry was born in Metropolis, Illinois on February 23, 1921 to John Wesley and Leona Grace Winings. He was married to Lucille Elizabeth (Page). To this union were born seven children; Susan (Wayne) Bowen, Sandra, Les, Dan (Janice), Norman, Jerome and Gary, all who survive. In 1955 Jerry and his family moved from Illinois to Colorado Springs, Colorado for work and health reasons. Jerry was an artist in painting, playing the piano and liked fly fishing, golfing and going to Cripple Creek; he mostly liked the beauty of the ride there. Jerry worked Civil Service at Fort Carson as a Radio Inspector. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Winings and sister, Edith (Winings) Schmitgen. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Lucille and second wife, Dorothy, whom he married in 1979. The family wishes to extend their thanks to the Life Care Center of Colorado Springs on International Circle and the wonderful nurses and staff for the exceptional care provided to Dad. Dan,

I’m sorry to hear about your Dad. Its never easy when you loose some one close to you. I applaud your efforts over the last several years in keeping him engaged and near to you. It’s those memories that are treasures.
