Jess Willard Morse of Colorado Springs died from Multiple Myeloma on October 11, 2024 at his home with his sons in attendance. He was 88.
Jess was born in Newport, Washington in 1936. He graduated from Newport High School in 1955, where he was a three sport athlete. After a short career in logging, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in that branch for 5 years. A glutton for punishment, he then enlisted in the United States Army and served until retirement in 1977. While stationed in Germany, he met his future wife, Renate Schafer. They married in August 1961 and eventually settled in Colorado Springs.
His years of service aircraft mechanic included tours in Vietnam. After retirement, Jess worked as a contractor which afforded him the opportunity to travel the world including to Kwajalein and Iran. Later in retirement he enjoyed visiting friends and loved ones in Washington, weekly visits to Cripple Creek, and rooting for his beloved Denver Broncos and Gonzaga Bulldogs.
He was preceded in death by his wife Renate, and is survived by sons Thomas (Kris), Chris (Alisa), and grandsons Michael, Zachary, Kurtis, and Matthew.
His ashes will be interred at Fort Logan National Cemetery.
A celebration of life will be held on December 14,2024 at Calvary Chapel Eastside, 5070 Edison Ave, Colorado Springs, CO 80915.

I knew Jess when he was a staff sergeant and I was a Specialist 5 at Peterson Field in the 44th Aviation Detachment of the Army Air Defense Command. This was 1971 to 74 when we stood down the unit. I never worked directly for him but knew him to be a very good man and we got along well. He took care of the soldiers under his charge and he was known to be an excellent NCO. My condolences to his sons who I know have lost a very fine father.

I miss Jesse! He always had a smile on his face. He also never complained about his pain. As long as I knew Jesse, he would tell me how much he wanted to go home... that home is Heaven! I have a short video of him I took to back on September 1, 2024´, if interested.

I will miss our conversations each Sunday when I would ask how you were doing and you would always answer "Fair to Midland!" And you would always add that you were ready to go home but God still had you around. Well now you are dancing with Jesus and you have been reunited with your wonderful wife. I was blessed to know you and am so happy to know you have received your prize!
