Jill Gibson Hand, 90, of Colorado Springs, CO, was surrounded by family when she peacefully passed into the arms of Jesus on August 3, 2025.
Born on March 20, 1935, in Farnham, England, Jill embarked on a brave journey across the Atlantic at the age of 21. She made her home with her beloved cousin Diane and Bill Elliott and their children Gay, Buck, and Sandra. She quickly became not only a cherished cousin but a beloved daughter and sister to the Elliott family.
Before starting her family, Jill worked as an executive secretary for the El Pomar Foundation and at The Short Story. In 1962, she married and devoted herself wholeheartedly to raising a beautiful family, a role she embraced with love, grace, and unwavering dedication.
Jill was also known as a talented tennis player, winning many championships at The Broadmoor and Country Club of Colorado. A life of service defined her. She generously volunteered with Meals on Wheels, Get Set, Ecumenical Social Ministries (ESM), and at her beloved church, First Presbyterian, where she was an active and devoted member. She found deep joy in her Bible studies and knit-and-chat groups, often donating handmade items to those in need. Jill loved her garden—especially daffodils, cosmos, and dahlias—along with a proper English tea, chocolate, and orange marmalade.
Jill was preceded in death by her brother Kim Keeves Wynes, and by Bill and Diane Elliott. She is survived by her children Dave Hand (Amy), Barry Hand (Kristen), and Holly Hand (Spencer); seven grandchildren—Ben, Allison, Ashley, Max, Madison, Karly (Malachi), and Davey; and her great-granddaughter, Ava. She is also survived by her extended Elliott family: Gay, Buck, Sandra and their families, who held a special place in her heart.
Her life was a beautiful reflection of love, kindness, gratitude, and faithful service to others. She will be remembered always for her gentle and humble spirit along with her unwavering faith in her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Service will be held at 11:30am, Saturday September 20th, at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Colorado Springs.

Earlier today

Jill was definitely a special person, a strong Christian, excellent tennis player, and a compassionate person who shared her time and resources with others. I know she´ll be greatly missed.
I will be out of town celebrating my husband´s 88 birthday so will not be able to attend her services

Thinking of your mom and how kind she always was when I worked at the CC of CO.
Peace be with you all as you grieve.
