Jim Adams Obituary

Chief Warrant Officer (ret) Jim Adams passed away at home in his sleep on December 21. He was born in Battle Creek, Michigan on January 30, 1940 to Katherine and Keith Adams.

Jim's 23 years of service in the US Army as a maintenance technician included one tour in Okinawa and two in Vietnam. He retired from the military in 1982 as a Chief Warrant Officer after which he continued to serve his country as a civil service employee at Ft. Carson for 20 years.

Jim met his wife, Inge Adams, while stationed in Germany. He is survived by her, his brother Don Adams and his daughters: Renee Adams - husband Justin Gibbens, Brenda Tjaden - husband Dr. Jeff Tjaden and son Aricin Tjaden, and LtCol (ret) Diana Starkey - husband Rod Starkey.

Jim enjoyed many hobbies including camping, hunting, stamp collecting, building model trains, and traveling. His travels took him all over the world and recently included a river cruise in Germany with his whole family to celebrate his and Inge's 50th Wedding Anniversary.

Jim will be remembered for his dependability, creativity, organization, attention to detail, and sense of humor.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name for cancer or Parkinson's disease research.

Memorial Services will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 30, 2013 at Soldier's Memorial Chapel, Ft. Carson. Reception to follow at Edelweiss Restaurant.

Currently in Florida, and was saddened to learn of Jim's passing. We had some good times together when he was
the government contract monitor during my time as the Fort Carson Transportation Motor Pool Project Manager. Jim was a great guy who I was proud to call a friend. My sincere condolences to his family!
