Jimmie Lynch Obituary
A Love Story Jimmie R Lynch of Clifton, Tennessee and Charlotte Lynch (Ehrsam) of Basel Switzerland returned to their Creator this past month. Jimmie passed on 15 November 2009 and Charlotte followed 10 days later on the 25th. Jim and Charlotte loved and cared for each other for 62 years of marriage. Jim left Tennessee and entered the US Army soon after Pearl Harbor and served as a combat engineer for 4 years in the Republic of Iran with the Persian Gulf Command. At the end of World War 2, he reenlisted in the Army and was stationed in Germany with the Occupation Forces. He met Charlotte on a weekend pass to Basel, Switzerland where Charlotte and her family were recovering from the deprivations of World War 2. Their love affair lasted for 62 years. Jim continued as a career soldier and retired as a Sergeant First Class in 1965. Jimmie was an avid gardener and wood worker. Charlotte followed Jimmie around the world and was stationed all over the US and Germany. Jim and Charlotte retired to Colorado Springs in 1965. Charlotte gave Jim two sons, Gene and David Lynch. Gene passed away in a climbing accident in the Garden of the Gods in 1971. Charlotte and Jimmie mourned his loss until their final days. Charlotte was a magical orchid gardener and expert European cook. She also excelled in spinning and weaving. Both Jim and Charlotte loved Colorado Springs and lived here for 44 years. Jim and Charlotte are survived by their son, William David Lynch and daughter in law Kim Lynch and their children, Jimmie Eugene, Marika Ashley and Sherry Baker and grandchildren Chris, Ky and Zeke Lynch. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, Karl and Marie Ehrsam, and her sisters Martha Schenk and Elsi Langbein of Basel, Switzerland. She is survived by her brother Rene Ehrsam of Bern, Switzerland, brother in laws, Willi Langbein and Rolf Schenk of Basel and her niece Ursi Stebler of Basel, Switzerland. Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents William Berry Lynch and Ida Lynch of Clifton, Tennessee. Jimmie and Charlotte were children of the Great Depression and World War 2. They survived and prospered and lived the American Dream. Godspeed.
