Jo Ellen L. Mangone, M.D., 88, passed away December 9, 2021 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

She was born July 20, 1933 to Albert Lloyd Latta and Myrtle Irene (Jackie) Latta in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Jo Ellen attended Oklahoma Baptist University as an undergraduate and earned her medical degree from the University of Oklahoma.

Dr. Mangone spent the majority of her medical career as chief of primary care at Evans Army Community Hospital at Fort Carson, Colorado. She received numerous commendations from the Department of the Army for her quality of care and leadership including outstanding performance as a supervisory medical officer and the Superior Civilian Service Award before retiring in 1993.

Dr. Mangone was a passionate, accomplished golfer and active member of the Colorado Women's Golf Association.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Col Robert P. Mangone, USAF.

She is survived by her son, Steve Sellars of Broomfield, Colorado; her daughter, Tracy Sellars of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and her brother, Thomas Latta of San Francisco, California.
