Jo Young Obituary

Jo (Orr) Young, a long-time resident of Colorado Springs, passed away on Monday, the 3rd of July at Healthcare Resort Hospice of Colorado Springs after a brief illness.

She was born at McDill Air Force base in Tampa, FL on June 6th, 1947. During Jo's childhood, she and her siblings enjoyed moving around Europe and North Africa with their parents while her father served in the Air Force. Jo especially enjoyed living Germany where she won several trophies ice skating.



After high school, Jo joined United Airlines as a flight attendant in the day of glamour's stewardess', and continued with United for 31 years before retiring. Her proudest days with United were flying the men and women of the US Armed Forces to and from the Middle East during Operation Desert Storm in the early 1990s.

Jo and her husband Blake spent many years living in Denver before settling in Colorado Springs.

Jo had many passions in her life like ice skating, skiing, gardening and creating beautiful stained glass pieces. She loved all animals, but her greatest passion was her golden retrievers.

She is survived by her father John (Jack) Orr, loving sister Judy Egan and her husband Hank, brother John Orr and his wife Susan, Niece Kelly (Egan) Michels and husband Adam, nephews John Egan and his wife Michele, Brandon Orr and his wife Tami, Tannon Orr, four great nieces, two great nephews.

Jo was preceded in death by her husband Blake Young and mother Betty Orr.

Jo was laid to rest at a private ceremony, next to her husband Blake at Ft. Logan Military Cemetery on July 11th.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made to "The Golden Retriever Rescue" and St. Jude's Hospital.
