Joan Harlor Obituary

Mrs. Harlor, 75, died July 2, 2005, in Colorado Springs. She was an elementary teacher with District 11 for 18 years and previously with Denver School District 1 for 3 years. Mrs. Harlor was born March 17, 1930, in Rochester, Minnesota, to Floyd E. and Edna (Marquardt) Wilkins, who are deceased. She was married June 27, 1954 to T. Lyle Harlor in Rochester, Minnesota. She is survived by her husband; a son, David L. Harlor (Denver); two daughters: Gail D. Nuth (Colorado Springs) and Karen J. Galambos (Alexandria, VA); a sister, Doris "Dorey" Johnson (Rochester, MN), and eight grandchildren. Mrs. Harlor was a graduate of Macalester College and held a Master's Degree from The University of Denver. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa national teaching sorority and the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. She was a long-time active member of the United Methodist Church including a local chairmanship of Missions. One of her outreach interests was in Habitat for Humanity where, along with her husband, she was a participant in several "blitz" builds including two Jimmy Carter Work Projects. Memorial services will be on Saturday, July 9 at 10:30 a.m. at Sunrise United Methodist Church, 2655 Briargate Blvd. Private burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, 7777 W. 29th Ave., Denver. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kenya Methodist University Development Association (KEMUDA, P.O.
