Mrs. Lavelett & her husband were always kind to me when I'd come to their house as a child selling various things for Girl Scouts, school, or 4-H.
She was a sweet lady who'll be missed in the Falcon community.
My thoughts are with her loved ones during this difficult time.

Joan was always so kind to Dan and I. When we were a young family, Vernon and Joan gave us the use of a garden plot at their home in Colorado Springs. We would go over in the evenings to work in the garden and always enjoyed our visits with them. Joan was an interesting and wonderful woman that will be greatly missed.

One of the fondest memories I had growing up was a visit to Aunt Joan and Uncle Vern in Colorado Springs one summer with my older brother Tom and cousin Gene. It was the closest thing to a vacation that I had experienced at the time. We visited the zoo, Garden of the Gods, the Air Force Academy and went fishing for trout. I think I still have the Christmas Stocking she knitted with my name on it. I will always be grateful for the help she gave my mom and dad (her brother) so many years ago looking after us kids when it was needed. Her being a teacher it did not take her long to see through our shenanigans! She was loved and will be missed by all who knew her.

Beloved Aunt and Great-Aunt, you will be missed! Thank you for the love and support throughout the years. Your indomitable spirit and compassion have been great examples for me and my family. Your talents seemed to be endless. Painting, sculpting, pottery, carving, gardening, caring for wild animals and nature to name a few. The world has lost a great friend!

Not often do we have the gift of knowing somebody with so much zest for life. Joan will be fondly remembered by all of the Lavelett family for being one who always shared what she knew or could do. Her handmade Christmas Cards, her carvings, pottery and of course her plants and trees were things she enjoyed so much. Joan and Vernon were such a duo who enjoyed being together and working on endless projects or just a drive out in the countryside. When asking Joan her opinion on something, we always got good common sense advice. A down to earth farm girl who was a friend to many, you shall be missed.
