JoAnn E. Bochnak, 89, beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother entered her eternal home after a battle with cancer on March 25, 2022 at her home surrounded by family.
JoAnn was born on July 23, 1932, in Albion, Nebraska, to the late Ben and Pearl (Henrichs) Kolm.
She was married on September 12, 1954, in Colorado Springs to Walter V. Bochnak, who entered his eternal home in June 2021.
She is survived by a son, Michael L. (Juanita) Bochnak of Colorado Springs, a brother, Louis Kolm of Colorado Springs, 2 grandchildren, Christina (Joel) Smith Andrew Bochnak, a great-grandson Parker Smith all of Colorado Springs. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, and her little yorkie Lucy. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Yvonne.
She was a member of Rock of Ages Lutheran Church in Colorado Springs. JoAnn was a lifetime member of the Manitou Springs Womens Club and also a member of the Gleneagle Womens Club.
Before coming to Colorado Springs, JoAnn had taught school in Albion, Nebraska. In 1952, JoAnn moved to Colorado Springs, where she met and married her husband Walter. They enjoyed 66 wonderful years together. She worked in Civil Service at Fort Carson and also for the IRS in Denver. In 1977, Walter & JoAnn started their own company, Bochnak Plumbing & Heating, she worked in the company until her retirement in May 2011.
JoAnn loved to entertain, she hosted many family gatherings, cookouts, and parties at their home and also at their mountain home. JoAnn enjoyed playing cards, bridge, and she also bowled in several Bowling Leagues. She and her husband also enjoyed traveling and went on many trips with family. She had great faith in her Lord and Savior. She will be greatly missed by her family and the many friends that she made.
A celebration of her life will be held at Rock of Ages Lutheran Church, 120 N. 31st. St. in Colorado Springs with Pastor James Maxwell officiating on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 10:00 am with a reception following at the church and Burial at Memorial Gardens Cemetery around 1:00. Vistation will be at Memorial Gardens on Friday, April 8, 2022 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
In Lieu of flowers donations in her name may be sent to Rock of Ages Lutheran Church, 120 N. St., Colorado Springs, CO 80904.
The family would like to extend their thanks to the nurses and staff at Abode Hospice for their compassionate care during her illness.
