Joann Kammer Obituary

Joann L. Kammer passed away Monday, November 9, 2015. She was a farm girl, a fourth grade teacher, a world traveler, and a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She was known for her involvement in many clubs and volunteer activities, where she built strong friendships and worked tirelessly for the good of others.



Joann was born on December 29, 1939 in Jetmore, Kansas to Jacob and Mathilda (Gabel) Leikam. She later graduated from Kansas State University, and then obtained her Master's Degree at UNC. She married Daniel Joseph Kammer on June 21, 1969 in Jetmore. They moved to Colorado Springs in 1978.



She was a member of Pikes Peak Neighbors and of Alpha Delta Kappa, and was very involved with her church, Holy Apostles. She also loved spending time with her many friends, some whom she's known for over 50 years. She enjoyed traveling, playing Pinochle, and scrapbooking; and she delighted in the company of her three grandchildren, whom she often babysat. She was a master of the holidays, creating beautiful family traditions and taking care to make every special occasion a true celebration.



She is survived by 2 sons: Steve J. Kammer (wife Kendra), and Greg J. Kammer; 1 brother, Jacob "Junior" Leikam; 2 sisters: Velma Frank and Mildred Armstrong; and 3 grandchildren: Owen, Teo, and Kai Kammer. She was preceded in death by her parents; and 2 sisters: Hilda Leikam, and Eleanor Leikam.



A visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. with a Rosary at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 16, 2015 with a reception to follow at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 4925 North Carefree Circle. Burial will take place at 1:00 p.m. at Evergreen Cemetery.
