Helen Brusca Obituary

RIVERSIDE HELEN "PAT" KATHERINE BRUSCA Sept. 16, 1920~March 31, 2010 Age 89, born in Worcester, Massachusetts. She earned her RN degree from Massachusetts General Hospital and served as an officer in the US Navy as an active RN for the duration of WWII, in Norfolk Virginia, Washington DC, and Corona, CA. Helen was married to Lewis Phillip Brusca, from 1946 until his death in 1999. She is survived by her 4 children: Stone Brusca, Gwendolyn Brusca, Maria Brusca Patten, David Brusca Helen began her married life in Long Beach in 1946 and lived in Riverside from 1947-2010. Upon the maturation of her 4 children, she returned to college to complete a Bachelor of Arts degree at UC Riverside in Art History. She traveled extensively in Europe, Russia, China, Japan, and the Middle East. Helen was an artist (painter), avid bridge player, social activist as docent for the Riverside Museum, founder of book clubs, and active in the social justice committee of the Unitarian Church. She was loved by many. Memorial service will be held at Universalist Unitarian Church, 3657 Lemon St., Riverside, at 1pm on Mon. April 5.
