Jody Dunlap Obituary

Jody passed away on March 19, 2014 in her home with family and friends by her side. She was 75 and had an 8 year battle with Parkinson's disease.

Jody was born in Mehlville, Missouri to Hubert and Muriel Heiserman Appleby. She is survived by her daughter, Teri Sanchez, of Colorado Springs, her step-daughter, Carolyn Dunlap of Austin, Texas, her step-son, David Dunlap, of Colorado Springs, a grandson, Vincent Sanchez, of Colorado Springs, a sister, Donna Pickens, of Lakewood, Colorado and her brother, Richard Appleby, of Sterling, Colorado. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hub and Muriel, her husband, Robert and a sister, Barbie.

After attending Colorado State Teachers College, now known as UNC, in Greeley, Colorado, she did loan servicing for Liberty Loans. In 1966 she married her husband, Robert Dunlap, a lawyer in Colorado Springs. She was a homemaker as well as his secretary.

Jody loved learning, traveling, Mahjongg, Bridge and Chocolate. She was beautiful, gracious and always made a friend wherever she was. She was the rock and foundation of her family. She loved animals and was a zoo docent and a volunteer at Bear Creek Nature Center for many years. Jody also gave a lot of her time to the Suicide Prevention Hotline. She had a soft and giving heart. Her words comforted many people. Her family and many, many friends will miss her deeply. She was one of a kind.

A Celebration of Life will be announced in June.

In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the American Parkinson Disease Association, the Humane Society, Dream Power or the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
