Joe Traficanti Obituary

On April 28, 2011, our Lord retrieved one of His most loving, charming and vibrant servants - Joe Traficanti. Joe was born in Youngstown, Ohio on December 1, 1928. From the start, he never met a person he didn't like - or someone who didn't instantly find him to be a “longstanding friend. He loved his family, hard work and his country. He served nearly 30 years in the Air Force, rising to the level of E-8, traveling the world with his wife Jere (Lodema) and his kids. He also was fascinated by business and thrived in its environment. After his retirement from the Air Force, he purchased and operated the Falls Motel resort in Green Mountain Falls, Colorado, with his wife of 55 years, successfully rejuvenating it and making it a place to where people from around the country flocked. He is survived by his daughter Debbie (husband, Bob) Jackson of Manitou Springs, son Lt. Col. Joseph (wife, Kathi) Traficanti, USAF (Ret.) of Richmond, Virginia, sisters Ann Campolito, Janet Chandler, Delores Burke, and five of the greatest grandsons ever - - Nick (wife Bonnie) Jackson, Daniel Jackson, Bobby (wife Shannon) Jackson, Nate Traficanti and Taylor Traficanti, three granddaughters - - Carol (husband Brian) Bell, Anne (husband Jim) Burgess, and Kelly England - - as well as ten great grandchildren, all of whom Joe loved dearly. All of them have “Dad and “Grandpa stories that qualify as “gut-splitters. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 23rd, 2011 at the Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful Chapel. Private interment will be at the Shrine of Remembrance Rose Garden.

Uncle Joe was a great man and will be missed dearly. He and Aunt Lodema always opened their home to our family and provided us with great memories. He was a very wise man and had a ton of class. My sympathies go out to the family. He will always be in our hearts.

The Traficanti's were a profound cornerstone in my childhood. Such fond memories of them will never expire in my thoughts and heart. Joe touched many lives and therefore will be missed by many, always.

Joe and Jere were wonderful friends to my parents. My parents bought the Falls Motel and he was always around to help out. He always had a smile for me as a kid and lots of encouragement. He will be missed. Love and Prayers to the entire family from the Robbins family.

I didnt get to see my Uncle Joe that much, since he lived in Colorado, but it was always an enjoyment when I did. He was such a charming, sophisticated, intelligent, fun, and quite a handsome man. He aged like wine. :) He was my grandma Ann's only brother. She periodically told me stories about her big brother with tears in her eyes, from either laughing, or because she missed him. I'm so happy she was able to spend much time with Uncle Joe this last decade.
Uncle Joe is resting now, and will meet with the Lord soon.

Mr. Traficanti would greet me with two hands on my face and turn my head, give a gentle fatherly kiss on my cheek. That's how I will always remember him. I only wish I could have known him better but it was definitely MY pleasure. He will be missed by many!! Our thoughts and prayers go to the Jackson family.

Uncle Joe was an amazing person to be around. He was always patient when us 'kids' would goof around and be onrey. I will miss his stories, cooking, and most of all the necessary kiss on each cheek when he'd greet us and say good-bye. Although I'll miss you, I find comfort in knowing I will be reunited with you and the rest of the family someday.

For many years Joe was my next door neighbor in Green Mountain Falls. I always kidded him about his daily raking of his driveway; even now the thought of his spaghetti sauce makes my mouth water.

His daughter Debbie and son-in-law Bob Jackson were matchmakers for my wife and me.

Condolences to the family. Godspeed, Joe.

I was only fortunate enough to meet Joe a handful of times, but that was all it took to make me completely love him! What an amazing spirit. The world has lost an amazing man, but the impression he left will always be with me.

I lost a wonderful friend and brother-in-law when Joe was called home to his heavenly father. He will live in my heart forever, as will Debbie and Joe #2, and their families. I wish I could be there but health problems prohibit this. Just know that I am there in spirit. Love, Aunt Greta

I will miss uncle Joe dearly. I loved it when Him and Aunt Lodema would come to Kansas and Uncle Joe and I would go to the store and get things to make his world famous spagetti sauce. I will miss him. He was 1 of my favorite Uncles. I have alot of fond memmories to hold onto

he taught me not to pull in front of another car on the highway until both headlights showed up in my rear-view mirror. but that was all about courtesy to others, of which he had so much. he always had a warm smile for friends and strangers alike. he did his business ethically, making friends along the way. he succeeded by sweating the smallest details, understanding what would make his guests feel good. such as raking that gravel driveway each day. i will miss him, but will always retain these and other lessons he taught me.

Joe was a great guy. He will be missed. My sympathies to his family. Everyone that shared his life know how lucky and gifted they were to have him in their lives.
