John Aug Obituary

John Aug, age 77, a longtime resident of the Colorado Springs area died unexpectedly on Monday, July 4, 2016. He was a retired banker who had also retired from the United States Army after twenty years of service to his country.

John Henry Aug was born on May 14, 1939 in New York to the late Henry and Ann (Caraccio) Aug. He was a 1957 graduate of Bayport High School in New York and attended college while in the Army. He later received an honorary degree from Colorado Technical University.

He married Joan Gorman on January 10, 1959 in Blue Point, New York. He retired from the Army with the rank of Major. He retired again as Senior Vice President of Security Service Federal Credit Union.

John was a sports enthusiast who loved poker, dancing, softball, volleyball and basketball. John will be best remembered for his love of family and his great sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Joan; his son, John Henry (Sue) Aug, Jr.; his daughter, Janine Aug; his grandchildren, Dana (Christopher) Daniel and Samantha Aug; his sisters, Gertrude (Bill) Garofalo and Matilda (Frank) Fleming.

Private family services are planned.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to the American Diabetes Association.

He will be dearly missed.
