John S. Beardsley was born in Chicago, IL on Nov 10th, 1949 and went to the Lord on Aug 12th, 2022. During this summer, John was diagnosed with Leukemia AML. He put up a Marine's heroic battle against it. John spent 28yrs at the USAFA Cadet Library in special collection as an Archivist Tech. John had a special ability to make history come alive and help other appreciate history even more. John had such a gentle spirit about him that enabled him to touch so many lives. In his retirement years, John became a gym rat at 24hr fitness.
One of John's many achievements was 32yrs of sobriety. He has many beloved brothers & sisters in the Riders AAA community that assisted him on this journey of sobriety.
John is survived by his wife, Sandy Beardsley, of 22yrs and his many AAA brothers and sisters.
The celebration of John's life will be at Vista Grande Baptist Church on Friday, September 23rd at 10AM. Reception will be held at the church immediately after the service. Interment will be at Pikes Peak National Cemetery at 1PM with full honors

I just saw this...John and I were friends all through our teenage years, when his dad pastored our church in Rhode Island...I always thought he was a gentle soul then and I see that he truly was throughout his life.
Thankful to have known him, and saddened by his loss to all those who loved him.

One of my best friends at the Academy. We would meet and talk many afternoons in the library breakroom. He also led me to any informational needs I had in Special Collections. He made working at the Academy a greater experience than it would have been without his presence.

To Sandy and family,
I too am a gym rat at 24hr; which where I met John. One thing I notice lacking from his obituary was his continual love for his/our country; this was the common bond/catalyst that brought us together
